V1.75 is a mini update in size but not in impact. Jujutsu Shenanigans dropped two entirely new game modes — Prison Realm and Soul Swap — and both of them are already changing which characters players are building around. This guide covers exactly how both modes work and where the current tier list lands after a week of community play.
Prison Realm Mode — How It Works
Prison Realm is a hot-potato elimination mode pulled directly from the JJK manga/anime. One player is assigned a timed Prison Realm — a seal that, if it expires while you're holding it, eliminates you from the round.
The catch: you pass it to another player by using Head of the Hei's double dash at them. Every time the Prison Realm gets passed, the timer gets shorter. Early passes are easy; late-game passes are frantic. Players who survive long enough to hold the Prison Realm when no one else is nearby effectively win by process of elimination.
Strategy notes:
- Mobility is the most important stat in Prison Realm. Characters with fast dashes or teleport mechanics are disproportionately strong — you need to get close enough to pass reliably, and get away fast enough to not receive it back immediately.
- Crowd control matters for a different reason: if you can stagger or trap the player you're passing to, they can't dodge away in time.
- Don't panic when you receive it at low timer. Stay calm, find the nearest player, and close distance deliberately. Panic-dashing in a random direction wastes the movement you need.
Soul Swap Mode — How It Works
Soul Swap is the more replayable of the two new modes. On spawn, you're presented with a choice of three preset moveset kits at varying rarities. You pick one and play it for the round. You have infinite lives — there's no elimination — and the focus is on adapting to whatever kit you were dealt.
This is intentionally the opposite of normal Jujutsu Shenanigans, where you grind to unlock your preferred character and learn their kit deeply. In Soul Swap, the skill that gets rewarded is generalist mechanical ability — how quickly can you pick up an unfamiliar kit and find its win conditions?
Strategy notes:
- When you're picking your kit, prioritize kits with clear, readable win conditions over kits that require execution mastery. A simple but reliable combo beats a technically demanding combo you've never practiced.
- Higher-rarity kits are generally stronger, but a Common kit you understand beats a Legendary kit you're fumbling through.
- Use the infinite respawns to experiment. Soul Swap is explicitly a testing mode — treat early deaths as information about how a kit works, not as failures.
Best Characters for Each Mode
Prison Realm — Best Picks
Characters with fast, low-cooldown movement skills. The double-dash mechanic is specifically Head of the Hei, so that character is central to the mode — but anyone with good chase tools can play aggressively. Characters with strong mobility awakening moves also benefit here.
Soul Swap — Best Picks
Soul Swap assigns you random kits, so pre-selecting a main character doesn't apply. However, players who have spent time on many different characters adapt faster because they recognize kit archetypes. The broader your character knowledge, the better your Soul Swap performance will be over time.
Full Tier List — May 2026
This reflects community consensus after V1.75 has been live for approximately a week. The new modes have stressed-tested mobility and crowd control at a higher rate than before, which is why some characters moved.
S+ Tier
| Character | Why |
|---|---|
| Ten Shadows (Megumi) | Summon pressure forces opponents into bad positions constantly. Mahoraga awakening can nearly end a fight in one sequence. Still the best overall pick in the game after V1.75. |
| Blood Manipulator (Choso) | High damage output with a natural flow between offensive modes. Strong in both new modes due to reliable range. |
S Tier
| Character | Why |
|---|---|
| Cursed Partners (Yuta) | Versatile kit that handles most scenarios. Strong awakening and reliable damage at multiple ranges. |
| Perfection (Mahito) | Consistent damage and body manipulation mechanics make him reliable in all modes. One of the best beginner-friendly S-tier characters. |
| Puppet Master (Mechamaru) | Range and zoning tools are more valuable in Prison Realm where controlling space around yourself matters. Moved up slightly post-V1.75. |
A Tier
Strong picks that perform well but have clear counters or require more execution to reach S-tier output. Includes characters with high damage ceilings that reward practice. Specific placements within A tier shift frequently enough that listing them as a group is more accurate than a strict ranking.
B Tier
Functional and enjoyable to play. Viable in both standard matches and the new modes. Characters in this range often have one standout mechanic but weaker overall kit consistency compared to S/A picks.
C Tier and Below
Not recommended for competitive play. Most characters in C tier have either been power-crept by newer additions or have kits that require very specific conditions to be effective. Fine for casual play.
⚠️ Note: Exact damage values and frame data for characters in this game are not all publicly documented. Tier placements reflect gameplay performance observed by the community, not internal stat comparisons. Treat this as a community consensus tier list, not a spreadsheet-backed ranking.
Best Characters If You're Just Starting
If you're new to Jujutsu Shenanigans, the community consistently recommends two starting characters:
Mahito (Perfection) — Rewards aggression. His kit punishes players who stand still, and his moves are forgiving enough that a new player can start doing damage in their first few matches. Good for learning offensive fundamentals.
Gojo — Rewards positioning. His Infinity mechanic has a defensive dimension that helps new players survive long enough to learn the game. Good for understanding spacing and how kit archetypes work.
Both are S-tier or near it, so you won't be learning on a weak character. Once you understand the fundamentals from one of these, branching into Ten Shadows or Choso is the natural progression path.
FAQ
How do I access Prison Realm and Soul Swap?
Both modes are available from the game mode selection screen in Jujutsu Shenanigans. They appear as new options alongside the existing standard and ranked modes since V1.75.
Does Prison Realm affect your ranked record?
Not confirmed in verified sources. The mode appears to be unranked, but check the official Jujutsu Shenanigans Discord for confirmation on how it interacts with your standing.
Which character has the best double dash for Prison Realm?
Head of the Hei is the mechanic explicitly tied to Prison Realm — the double dash is how you pass the realm. Other characters with fast movement abilities (teleports, burst dashes) are also strong because they help you close distance and escape quickly.
Is the V1.75 update permanent or a limited event?
Both Prison Realm and Soul Swap appear to be permanent mode additions, not limited-time events. They're part of the game mode rotation going forward.
When is the next major Jujutsu Shenanigans update?
Not officially announced as of May 16, 2026. Follow the official Discord for patch notes and update teasers — that's where announcements come first.
