Jailbreak has been running since April 2017 and it still pulls consistent player counts in 2026 — because the core loop hasn't lost its appeal. You pick a side, commit crimes or stop crimes, earn cash, buy faster vehicles, and repeat. It's the Roblox experience that most directly rewards social play and quick thinking.
If you're starting fresh or returning after time away, this guide gets you up to speed: the three roles, how to escape prison, which heists to hit first, how the vehicle system works, and what Season 32 brings in June.
The Three Roles
Everyone starts as a Prisoner. From there, the game branches into Criminal or Police — and the experience changes dramatically depending on which path you take.
| Role | Starting Location | How You Earn Cash | Objective |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prisoner | Prison | N/A (transitional role) | Escape and become a Criminal |
| Criminal | Escaped or direct spawn | Heists, robberies, bounties | Rob locations, evade Police |
| Police | Police Station | Arrests, Police objectives | Arrest Criminals, respond to heists |
New players almost universally start as Criminals — it's where the most agency lives. Police is a great choice once you understand the map well enough to pursue criminals effectively; it's harder to play well as a beginner.
How to Escape Prison (3 Routes)
Escaping prison is the first thing every new player needs to do. There are three reliable escape routes:
1. The Sewer (Recommended for Beginners)
The most reliable first escape. Find the sewer entrance inside the prison, follow the underground path, and emerge on the outside of the prison walls as a Criminal. No other players required. Takes about 60–90 seconds your first time.
2. The Keycard Gate (Fastest)
Another player on the outside can pass you a keycard through the fence near the main gate. This unlocks the front gate directly. If you have a friend playing, this is the fastest exit. Solo players need to rely on other Criminals who happen to be near the fence.
3. Over the Wall
Climbing or vaulting the prison walls. Requires some timing and understanding of patrol patterns. More exposed to Police spotting you mid-attempt. Not recommended as a first-run approach, but useful to know.
Tip: Once you've escaped via sewer once, you learn the layout and can vary your route on subsequent escapes. The sewer stays the most consistent option.
Heists Ranked: Best for Beginners
Jailbreak has 13+ heists at varying difficulty and cash levels. Here's where to start and where to build toward:
Tier 1 — Start Here
| Heist | Cash Range | Min Players | Key Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gas Station | $750 – $1,800 | 1 | Hold E at the register for ~10 seconds. Police are alerted immediately. Have a getaway vehicle ready before you start. |
| Donut Shop | Similar to Gas Station | 1 | Same mechanic as Gas Station. Located near a police station — high risk but Police are often busy elsewhere. |
Tier 2 — Once You Have a Fast Vehicle
| Heist | Cash Range | Min Players | Key Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rising City Bank | $75 – $7,200 | 1 | Navigate laser obstacle floors. Earn $50 per 0.5 seconds in the vault. Bank Bust mechanic: if Police enter the vault, robbery ends immediately. |
| Crater City Bank | $75 – $9,000 | 1 | Higher ceiling than Rising City Bank. Similar laser mechanic with added complexity. Better payout per risk once you know the layout. |
| Jewelry Store | Moderate payout | 1 | Fast in-and-out if you know the layout. Good for solo players who want consistent returns without needing a partner. |
Tier 3 — Partner Required
| Heist | Notes |
|---|---|
| Museum | Requires coordination with at least one partner. High payout relative to its difficulty when executed well. Don't attempt solo. |
| Moving Heists (Train, Plane) | Require fast vehicles to keep up with the moving target. Higher execution barrier but some of the best cash rates in the game. |
Beginner priority order: Gas Station (learn the basics) → Jewelry Store (first taste of a proper heist) → Rising City Bank (learn to manage Police pressure in a vault) → Crater City Bank → partner heists once you have friends or are comfortable coordinating with strangers.
Vehicles: What to Buy First
Jailbreak has 122+ obtainable vehicles across 7 categories. As a new player, the only category that matters immediately is General — affordable cars that are dramatically faster than your starting sprint speed. Get one as soon as you can afford it from your first heist runs.
Vehicle categories and what they're for:
| Category | Best For |
|---|---|
| General | First purchase. Affordable, reliable, good for learning the map. |
| Sports | High-performance land speed. Best sustained road vehicle once you can afford it. |
| Off-Road | Rough terrain pursuit and escape. Slower on roads but handles hills and shortcuts. |
| Motorcycles | Fast acceleration, narrow hitbox (harder to ram), but fragile. |
| Aerial | Helicopters and planes. Massive pursuit advantage for Police, also useful for Criminals evading ground pursuit. |
| Boats | Water navigation. Situational — useful for specific heist escape routes. |
| Special | Seasonal/limited vehicles. The Scorpion — the fastest vehicle in the game at 423 MPH in overdrive — falls here. |
Progression path: Starter run cash → cheapest General car → upgrade to a Sports car → work toward aerial vehicles (helicopter changes the game entirely for Police play and certain escapes).
Don't buy expensive cosmetics until you have a fast vehicle. A $100k vehicle is worth far more to your gameplay than $100k in customization options.
Playing as Police
Police earns cash through arrests and completing Police-specific objectives. It's harder to play well as a beginner because you need to know where Criminals are likely to go — which requires map familiarity you build up over sessions as a Criminal first.
Key Police tips:
- Respond to heist alerts immediately when they pop — you can intercept Criminals mid-heist more easily than chasing them afterward
- Get an aerial vehicle early. A Police helicopter completely changes your chase capability; Criminals can't hide from a bird's-eye view
- Arrest streaks earn bonus cash. Don't let Criminals escape if you can help it — your earning rate scales with consecutive arrests
- Coordinate with other Officers in team chat. High-bounty Criminals are harder to take down alone
The Season Pass System
Jailbreak runs on a Season system — roughly 3-month content cycles similar to a battle pass. Each Season introduces exclusive vehicles, cosmetics (tire stickers, body decals), and accessories that can only be obtained during that Season.
Once a Season ends, its vehicles move to the Unobtainable category. Some have returned in later Seasons; most haven't. If a Season vehicle looks appealing, it's worth purchasing the Season Pass during that window rather than hoping it comes back.
The free track has rewards available without spending Robux — cosmetics, cash boosts, some accessories. The premium track (Robux cost) unlocks everything including vehicles.
Season 32: Street Racing Preview
Season 32 is titled Street Racing and is scheduled to begin in June 2026, tied to the game's 9-Year Anniversary. Based on community announcements, the Season will focus on racing-themed vehicles and cosmetics.
⚠️ Not Yet Confirmed: Specific vehicle names, stats, and reward tracks for Season 32 have not been officially released as of May 16. Follow @asimo3089 and @badccvoid on Twitter/X for official reveals. We'll update this post when patch notes go live.
The Sky Jail Update (April 1, 2026) was the most recent major content drop and introduced aerial gameplay expansion. Season 32 content will build on the current state of the game.
Active Codes (May 2026)
Jailbreak codes reward cosmetic items (tire stickers, body decals) rather than cash in recent seasons. Here are the currently active codes:
| Code | Reward |
|---|---|
| YoutubeHelloItsVG | Tire Sticker |
| YoutubeNoobFreak | Tire Sticker |
How to redeem:
- Launch Jailbreak on Roblox
- Click the Twitter bird icon on the left side of the screen
- Type the code exactly as shown (case-sensitive)
- Press Enter or click the checkmark
New codes are dropped via @asimo3089 and @badccvoid on Twitter/X. Cash codes have been rare in recent seasons — most current codes reward cosmetics.
FAQ
How do I get faster at escaping prison?
The sewer route is the fastest consistent escape once memorized. It takes 60–90 seconds your first time and under 30 seconds once you know the path. Practicing it a few times in low-police servers helps build the muscle memory quickly.
What's the best heist for solo players?
The Gas Station and Jewelry Store are the best solo heists for beginners. The Rising City Bank is the best solo heist once you have a fast getaway vehicle and understand the Bank Bust mechanic.
Is the Season Pass worth buying?
Depends on whether you want the exclusive vehicle. If the Season vehicle appeals to you: yes, buy it during the Season because it likely won't return. If the vehicle doesn't interest you, the free track provides enough value without Robux spend.
What happens to seasonal vehicles after the Season ends?
They move to the Unobtainable category. Some have returned in later Seasons as event rewards or future Season Pass inclusions, but it's not guaranteed. Treat every Season vehicle as limited-time unless Badimo confirms otherwise.
How many heists are there in Jailbreak?
13+ heists across four types: Small Stores (Gas Station, Donut Shop), Stationary (banks, museum), Moving (train, plane), and Special heists. New heists haven't been added since 2023; the developers have focused on vehicle and Season content updates since then.
Can Police and Criminals play on the same server?
Yes — Jailbreak servers are always mixed. There's no separate matchmaking for role types. The server population includes all three roles (Prisoners, Criminals, Police) simultaneously on the same map.
