Version 1.76 is live. The Fisch Dreadfin update dropped on March 21, 2026, introducing a brand-new Apex-tier hunt, Masterline Rod mastery, enchantment slot changes, and a batch of quality-of-life improvements. If you're a late-game Fisch player, this is the update you've been waiting for.

The Dreadfin is a global apex fish with a hard population cap of 2,000 across all servers — meaning speed matters. Here's everything you need to know to catch one before they're gone.

What Is the Dreadfin?

The Dreadfin is a new Apex-tier creature — a massive, dark, jagged-bodied sea creature with a sleek shark-like form and a long, ominous tail. It's currently the most challenging catch in the game due to a brutal -93% locked progress speed debuff when reeling it in.

How the Apex Hunt Works

The Dreadfin Apex Hunt spawns randomly every 3.5 hours across all servers. Here's how it plays out:

  1. Watch for the notification — A message appears at the top of your screen: "A Dreadfin has appeared near [location]"
  2. No fixed location — The Dreadfin can spawn anywhere on the map, but common spots include Northern Expedition, Scoria Reach, and Grand Reef
  3. Global population — Only 2,000 Dreadfin exist across all servers combined. Once they're caught, the hunt ends until the next spawn
  4. Not server-locked — The Dreadfin won't spawn in the same spot for every server, so you need to move fast when the notification drops

This is a race against every Fisch player on the platform. When you see that notification, drop everything and head to the location.

How to Catch the Dreadfin

Gear Setup

EquipmentRecommendation
RodMasterline (ideal) or No Life Rod — any high-tier rod works
BaitShark Head Bait (required for best catch rate)
EnchantmentTryhard (buffed to +50,000 kg this patch) or Invincible

Catching Tips

  • The hunt isn't hard to enter — Shark Head Bait and a decent rod is all you need
  • The challenge is the reel — The Dreadfin applies a -93% locked progress speed debuff, making it move erratically across the bar. Stay patient and focused
  • The real bottleneck is speed — With only 2,000 globally, the population runs out fast. Join servers with fewer players for better odds
  • Multi-hooking doesn't work — Bloop Hunts can no longer be multi-hooked as of this patch, so don't waste time trying

Pro Tips

  • Keep a stack of Shark Head Bait ready at all times — you don't want to be farming bait when the hunt spawns
  • If you're in a slow server, consider server-hopping to one closer to the spawn location
  • The hunt spawns during foggy weather at night — if you're already in those conditions, you have a head start
  • Attend weekend Admin Abuse events for a new Admin Relic reward

Masterline Rod Mastery

The Masterline Rod has received a full mastery system and a custom reel UI:

  • Mastery unlocks through extended use of the Masterline Rod
  • A custom reel UI appears when using the mastered version, giving you better visual feedback during catches
  • This mastery is described as being "only for true masters" — expect a significant grind to unlock

Other mastery changes:

  • Duskwire Mastery has been made easier
  • Spiritbinder Mastery has been made easier

FAQ

How often does the Dreadfin spawn?

Every 3.5 hours across all servers. There's no fixed countdown timer — just watch for the on-screen notification.

What bait do I need for the Dreadfin?

Shark Head Bait gives you the best catch rate. It's the recommended bait for this hunt.

Can I catch the Dreadfin with any rod?

Yes, any decent rod like the No Life Rod will work. The Masterline Rod is ideal but not required.

What does the -93% locked progress speed mean?

When reeling in the Dreadfin, your progress bar moves 93% slower than normal, and the fish moves erratically. It makes the catch extremely challenging and requires patience.

Is the Dreadfin limited time?

The hunt spawns on a regular cycle (every 3.5 hours), but each spawn only has 2,000 fish globally. Once they're caught, you have to wait for the next spawn.

What does "NewIslandSoon" mean?

The new code name strongly hints that Fisch is getting a new island in an upcoming update. Stay tuned for announcements on the official Fisch Discord.
