Grow a Garden 2 went live on June 12 and immediately turned the franchise from a relaxed idle farm into a multiplayer steal-and-defend game. Nine days later — Friday, June 20, 2026 — it got its first real content patch: Update 1.01.0, the Aurora Event Update. The headline is a new weather pattern and mutation that only fires at night, but the bigger story is what the patch ships alongside it: two new mythic defenders (one seed, one pet), the game's first crowd-control gear, a new chance-based selling mechanic, and a data-mined Epic Egg that's not quite live yet.
If you've been holding off on Grow a Garden 2 because the night-stealing loop felt too punishing, this update changes the math. Here's exactly what shipped, every verified stat, and how to slot it all into your base before the weekend ends.
TL;DR — What Shipped in Update 1.01.0
- New weather: Aurora — 2-minute cycle, occurrence weight 30 (same band as Snowfall and Starfall), only triggers visually at night.
- New mutation: Aurora — 40x sell multiplier, 1% chance on harvest during the Aurora event.
- New mythic seed: Venom Spitter — 30,000,000 Sheckles or 1,195 Robux, 0.475% stock chance, attacks intruders at night.
- New mythic pet: Bear — 5,000,000 Sheckles, 0.225% map-spawn chance, tackles intruders and throws them away.
- New mythic gear: Player Magnet — 7,000,000 Sheckles or 1,149 Robux, pulls nearby players toward you for 10 seconds, always in stock.
- New rare gear: Megaphone — 8,000 Sheckles or 49 Robux, plays Roblox sound IDs.
- Reportedly added (no wiki page yet): Pet Teleporters (Robux-priced fast-travel to Legendary / Mythic / Super pets on the map), Double or Nothing (a gambling sell mechanic), and a server-wide anti-cheat sweep.
- Data-mined: Epic Egg — currently marked Unobtainable; the four pet drops are visible on the wiki (Deer, Unicorn, Bee, Bear) but the egg itself isn't purchasable yet.
The Aurora Weather & 40x Aurora Mutation
Aurora is the third night-themed weather added to GAG2 alongside Starfall and Snowfall, but it's the first one explicitly tied to a brand-new event update rather than an inherited mechanic. The wiki's Weather page lists it as a 2-minute event with an occurrence weight of 30, which puts its rotation frequency in the same tier as Starfall — uncommon, but not rare. Visually, the sky shifts to a cyan tone with denser clouds and a soft blue-and-pink ambient glow over your plot.
The reason it matters is the mutation it rolls. The Aurora mutation has a 40x sell multiplier, with a 1% chance per crop on harvest while the weather is active. For context, that slots in just above Frozen and below Bloodlit in the Environmental mutation table — strong enough that you'll want to be physically present and harvesting during Aurora windows, not idle. Per the wiki, the Aurora mutation can't be triggered during the growth stage; it's a harvest-only roll, so timing your pickups while the cyan sky is up is the whole game.
Stack Aurora with the right base mutations and the values multiply. The general mutation system on GAG2 multiplies a crop's base price by both its size scale and the mutation multiplier, and crops only carry one mutation at a time — so if a Rainbow (30x) crop rolls Aurora on harvest, you keep the higher of the two. Treat Aurora windows like a peak-output run: empty the high-value rows first.
Venom Spitter — The First Mythic Defense Seed
The Venom Spitter is the headline obtainable from Update 1.01.0 and the first multi-harvest Mythic crop with an active defense ability. Two things you need to know up front:
- Price: 30,000,000 Sheckles or 1,195 Robux.
- Stock chance: 0.475% per Seed Shop restock — roughly 19 in 4,000 rolls per the wiki.
- Ability: "The Venom Spitter can attack the player at night by spitting venom to them." That fires automatically while planted, which is what makes it a defense plant and not just a high-value crop.
Cosmetically it's a wide green leaf with glowing purple veins and multicolored dots — easy to spot at night, which matters because intruders will see it before they walk into it. For pricing context, 30M Sheckles is the highest single-seed cost we've seen confirmed on the wiki for this game so far. If you're sitting on a stockpile from launch week, this is the obvious sink.
How it fits your base: plant Venom Spitters as a perimeter — corner tiles and the row closest to the main approach — and keep your high-value mutation crops (Rainbow, Aurora, Bloodlit candidates) on inner tiles. Pair it with the defensive plants from launch (Dragon's Breath, Cactus, Venus Fly Trap) for a layered kit. Our Grow a Garden 2 defense guide covers base-layout patterns that the Venom Spitter slots into cleanly without rearranging your whole farm.
Bear — The Mythic Pet That Tackles Thieves
The Bear is the patch's other big-ticket addition and the first Mythic pet whose entire kit is "make stealing physically annoying for the other player." From the wiki entry:
- Rarity: Mythic.
- Price (map purchase): 5,000,000 Sheckles.
- Spawn chance: 0.225% to spawn anywhere on the map.
- Passive: "Defends your garden by tackling intruders, pinning them down, then throwing them away."
Where the Venom Spitter punishes intruders passively (they walk in, they take venom), the Bear is an active deterrent — it physically interrupts the theft animation by tackling the player, pinning them, then throwing them off your plot. The wiki appearance line is also one of the better-written pet descriptions in the game: "Looks like a cute, cuddle, furry Pet. But when approached, it becomes deadly."
The Bear also has a planned secondary obtainment path through the Epic Egg (see below), but that egg is currently marked Unobtainable on the wiki, so for the weekend the only live path is the 5M Sheckle map-spawn purchase or trading from another player.
Player Magnet & Megaphone — New Gear
Player Magnet (Mythic, 7,000,000 Sheckles or 1,149 Robux) — Always in stock at the Gear Shop, and its single effect is "Suck nearby players toward you for 10 seconds." It's a crowd-control tool, not a defense or attack item. The straightforward use is offensive: pull a stealing player out of the crop they were targeting so your other defenses (Bear, Venom Spitter, Dragon's Breath) get a clean hit. It also has obvious troll potential — pulling friends into open Bear range is one of the patch's running jokes online — but mechanically its real value is breaking up a theft mid-animation.
Megaphone (Rare, 8,000 Sheckles or 49 Robux) — A one-off cheap novelty whose only listed effect is "Plays Sound IDs from ROBLOX." There's no combat or economy use; it's a purely social item. Worth grabbing once for the joke; not worth a slot beyond that.
Outside the wiki, launch-day coverage from Allthings. How and GGWTB also describe Pet Teleporters — a Robux-only gear (or pair of gears) that fast-travels you to Legendary, Mythic, or Super-rarity pets currently spawned on the map. That's a substantial quality-of-life add for chasing the Bear's 0.225% spawn or any of the launch-week rare pets, but the dedicated wiki page hasn't gone up yet, so we're flagging it as reported-but-unverified pending a primary source. Same applies to Double or Nothing — a gambling sell mechanic that reportedly doubles a crop's sell value on a win or zeros it on a loss — and the server-wide anti-cheat sweep targeting exploited items.
Epic Egg — Data-Mined But Not Live
The wiki has a public Epic Egg page, but it's tagged with both {{Stub}} and {{Unobtainable}} templates and its price and hatch time are listed as TBA — meaning the egg exists in the game data but isn't purchasable yet. What's visible is the planned pet table:
| Pet | Base Chance | Big | Huge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deer | 60% | — | — |
| Unicorn | 30% | — | — |
| Bee | 9% | 1% | — |
| Bear | 9% | 1% | 0.05% |
The Unicorn entry is the interesting one for mutation farmers: its passive — "doubles the chance for plants and fruit to turn Rainbow" — would stack with the Aurora event nicely, since Rainbow is a 30x multiplier and Aurora rolls on top of standard mutation chance. If the Epic Egg goes live in a follow-up patch (which the data suggests it will), expect the Unicorn to become a top-priority hatch for high-value crop runs.
The Bear having a Huge variant at 0.05% is also worth noting — once the egg releases, that's a 1-in-2,000 hatch and likely the most valuable thing in this entire patch line. Don't burn Sheckles speculating on it now; just remember it's coming.
First-Weekend Priority List
- Cash on hand under 5M? Don't chase Mythics yet — keep grinding base crops and try to be online during an Aurora weather window for the 40x harvest roll.
- 5M–10M: Buy the Bear first when one spawns. Active defense matters more than passive at this Sheckle tier, and 5M gets you a Mythic on-the-spot.
- 10M–30M: Add the Player Magnet (always in stock, 7M). One gear that breaks theft animations pays for itself across a weekend.
- 30M+: Start watching the Seed Shop restocks for the Venom Spitter. Perimeter rows first, then a few inner rows once you have multiples.
- Anytime: Grab the 8K Megaphone. It's irrelevant strategically and 8K is rounding error at any Sheckle bracket.
If you haven't picked up GAG2 yet, the launch guide covers the day/night cycle, the new Super rarity, and how the steal-and-defend loop actually works step-by-step — read that first, then come back here.
FAQ
- When did the Grow a Garden 2 Aurora Event update drop?
- June 20, 2026. The patch is internally numbered Update 1.01.0 on the official Fandom wiki — the first content update after the June 12 public release (1.00.0).
- What does the Aurora mutation do?
- Multiplies a crop's sell value by 40x. It only rolls during the Aurora weather event, at a 1% chance on harvest, and per the wiki it cannot trigger during the growth stage.
- How much does the Venom Spitter cost?
- 30,000,000 Sheckles or 1,195 Robux, from the Seed Shop. Its stock chance per restock is 0.475% (roughly 19 in 4,000 rolls). It's a multi-harvest Mythic that automatically attacks intruders at night.
- How do I get the Bear pet?
- Buy it from the map for 5,000,000 Sheckles when one spawns. Its spawn chance is 0.225%, so it's not common — but trading from another player is also possible. The Epic Egg lists Bear as a 9% hatch (with a 0.05% Huge variant), but the Epic Egg is currently marked Unobtainable on the wiki.
- Is the Player Magnet worth 7M Sheckles?
- Yes for defense play. It pulls nearby players to you for 10 seconds, which interrupts the theft animation and gives your Bear or Venom Spitter a clean shot. It's always in stock at the Gear Shop, so you can grab it whenever you hit the Sheckle threshold.
- What are Pet Teleporters and are they confirmed?
- Launch-day coverage from Allthings. How and GGWTB describes Pet Teleporters as Robux-priced gears that fast-travel you to Legendary, Mythic, or Super-rarity pets on the map. The dedicated wiki page hasn't gone up yet at time of writing, so we're treating the specifics as reported-but-unverified.
- Did anything from the original Grow a Garden cross over?
- No. The original Grow a Garden and Grow a Garden 2 are separate Roblox experiences — your original garden, plants, pets, and Sheckles do not transfer. Both games continue to receive updates independently.
