Ritual 10 gives you a rod that stacks up to a 42% chance at a 10.6x mutation. Almost nobody will get there this week, and the grind isn't the reason.
FischFright 3 has 11 rituals, and each one unlocks the next. From ritual 8 onward you need a fourth Skeletal Hand item. The wiki lists five hand items and gives a source for only three of them.
All 11 rituals in order
| # | Ritual | Reward | Hex Stage | Hands awake |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hexing | 1 random Witch's Ingredient | None | 0 |
| 2 | Scary Relic | Grim, Vile or Doomed Relic | None | 1 |
| 3 | Haunted | Haunts a random house | II | 1 |
| 4 | Jack-o-Moon | Summons Jack-o-Moon weather | II | 2 |
| 5 | Boglin | 3 random goblins | III | 2 |
| 6 | Dutchman's Blessing | Dutchman's Rod | III | 3 |
| 7 | Enhanced Boglin | 3 Ghoul or 3 Eldritch goblins | IV | 3 |
| 8 | Haunted Cemetery | 10 minutes to fish Zombie Nessie | IV | 4 |
| 9 | Eldritch | Eldritch Relic + a random relic | V | 4 |
| 10 | Omniscient | Omniscient Spinecaster | V | 5 |
| 11 | Ghoul Nessie | 5 minutes to fish Ghoul Nessie | V | 5 |
Every ritual costs 100 Treats, paid to Frankenstein. A ritual lasts 1 minute 30 seconds and then goes on a 10-minute cooldown.
The Skeletal Hands, and where the chain stops
Each hand wakes up when you bring it its matching item:
| Item | Hand | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Art Skull | Kaelith's Grasp | Goblin objectives (0.5% to 25%, see below) |
| Ethereal Rose | Xylar's Grasp | Captured ghosts in haunted houses (15%) |
| Davy's Rose | Azael's Grasp | Dutchman Merchant, 5,000 Treats, stock of 1 |
| Fable Rose | Korvath's Grasp | Not listed |
| Gourdemort's Rose | Malakor's Grasp | Not listed |
Three known items means three hands, and three hands takes you through ritual 7. The Dutchman's Rod is the realistic finish line right now.
Don't sell anything you'd need for rituals 8 to 11 while you wait. Once a source for either rose shows up, the Zombie Nessie hunt is the next ritual in line.
Goblins: where every ingredient starts
Three goblins spawn every 5 minutes on one of 13 islands, from Moosewood to Everturn Forest. Each one hands you an objective, and you get 15 minutes from the spawn to finish it.
| Goblin | Ingredients | Spawn chance |
|---|---|---|
| Default | 1 | 67% |
| Ghoulish | 2 | 25% |
| Eldritch | 3 | 8% |
That works out to about 1.4 ingredients per goblin on average.
Harder objectives drop better ingredients. Average per tier:
| Objective | Avg. Hex Energy per ingredient | Dark Art Skull chance | Boglin piece chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 1.25 | 0% | 2.5% |
| Normal | 1.83 | 0.5% | 5% |
| Hard | 2.67 | 1% | 10% |
| Extreme | 3.38 | 12.5% | 20% |
| Ultimate | 4.00 | 25% | 40% |
The skull column is the one to watch. A Normal objective gives you a Dark Art Skull 1 time in 200. An Ultimate one gives it 1 time in 4. That's the only realistic way to get skulls, and the rituals need a lot of them.
Never skip an Extreme or Ultimate objective.
Hex Energy: don't burn your skulls in the cauldron
Beatrix's Cauldron pays out by Hex Energy, and each ingredient is worth a fixed amount: Dirty Candy Corn +1, Strange Root and Crushed Bone +2, Spider Eye and Giant Mushroom +3, Raven Feather and Bat Wing +4, Dark Art Skull +5.
Rituals are gated by Hex Stage, and Hex Stages are gated by how much of the FischFright 3 bestiary you've filled:
| Stage | Bestiary needed | First reward at | Rituals it opens |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | 0% | 1 Hex Energy | 1–2 |
| II | 20% | 12 | 3–4 |
| III | 40% | 40 | 5–6 |
| IV | 60% | 100 | 7–8 |
| V | 80% | 200 | 9–11 |
So a Dark Art Skull in the cauldron is worth the same as five Dirty Candy Corn, the most common goblin drop there is. Rituals 9 and 11 ask for three skulls each, ritual 10 asks for one more, and you need one to wake Kaelith's Grasp in the first place. The Fisch-Slinging Caster's chapel quest wants one too.
Keep every skull out of the cauldron.
Hit your Hex Energy targets with roots, bones and mushrooms.
Two cauldron milestones matter for rituals. 350 Hex Energy gives the Omniscient Bone that ritual 10 needs. At 20 Hex Energy you get Black Licorice, the Zombie Nessie bait.
Every recipe
Each recipe has lanterns to fill with fish and items. Some also need items in the hands. "FF3 fish" means a fish from the FischFright 3 bestiary.
1. Hexing
Lanterns: Candy Corn Pack, Licorice Lamprey, Jagged Bone, Taffy Trout, Tombstone Tuna, Dirty Candy Corn, Crushed Bone.
You put in two ingredients and get one random one back. That's a bad trade. It's only worth doing once, because it unlocks the next ritual.
2. Scary Relic
Lanterns: Sour Patch Salmon, Grim Gargoyle Grouper, Vile Broomstick Bass, Doomed Crypt Crab, Strange Root, Spider Eye, Bat Wing. Hands: any one FF3 skull.
The reward relic costs 2,500 Treats at the Dutchman Merchant, and in a Frightful Pool a relic (1%) turns up twice as often as a skull (0.5%). Spending a skull to get a relic is backwards, so do this one once.
3. Haunted
Lanterns: Licorice Lamprey, Sour Patch Salmon, Taffy Trout, Jawbreaker Jellyfish, Pop-Rock Pufferfish, Bubblegum Blobfish, Candy Corn Pack. Hands: Bat Wing.
This is the most useful ritual on the list. It's the closest thing this event has to a skull farm (more below).
4. Jack-o-Moon
Lanterns: Headless Halibut, Decayed Dace, Voodoo Vendace, plus one Grim, one Vile, one Doomed and one Eldritch FF3 fish. Hands: Crushed Bone, Strange Root.
The Jack-o-Moon gives 9x Luck and +5% Jack-o' (9.5x). If you can fill the mutated slots, this costs 100 Treats. A Jack-o-Moon Totem costs 15,000.
5. Boglin
Lanterns: Jagged Bone, Poltergeist Perch, Skeleton Sturgeon, Mummy Mackerel, Corpse Cod, two Small or Tiny FF3 fish. Hands: two Big or Giant FF3 fish.
Three goblins on demand is about 4 ingredients, and you can run it again every 10 minutes.
6. Dutchman's Blessing
Lanterns: Doomed Jagged Bone, Vile Poltergeist Perch, Grim Skeleton Sturgeon, Boglin Mummy Mackerel, Eldritch Corpse Cod, Dutchman's Grasp, Coffin. Hands: Grim, Vile and Doomed Skulls.
The Dutchman's Grasp alone is 25,000 Treats, and the merchant stocks only one. The rod it pays for gives a 20% chance at Dutchman's Curse, which is 9x.
7. Enhanced Boglin
Lanterns: two Shiny or Sparkling Boglin FF3 fish, five plain Boglin FF3 fish. Hands: three Giant FF3 fish.
This summons 6 or 9 ingredients at once, which makes it the best ingredient source in the event. You'll want the Boglin Branch (25% Boglin) to fill it.
8. Haunted Cemetery
Lanterns: one each of Dirty Candy Corn, Crushed Bone, Strange Root, Giant Mushroom, Spider Eye, Bat Wing and Raven Feather. Hands: Grim, Vile and Doomed Skulls, plus a Dobhar.
9. Eldritch
Lanterns: any 7 Witch's Ingredients. Hands: 3 Dark Art Skulls and any FF3 skull.
10. Omniscient
Lanterns: Grim, Vile, Doomed and Eldritch Jagged Bones, Zombie Nessie, Plush Nessie, Dark Art Skull. Hands: Boglin Jagged Bone (not Shiny or Sparkling), Doomsekkar Jagged Bone, Dutchman's Curse Jagged Bone, Omniscient Souls, Omniscient Bone.
The Doomsekkar and Dutchman's Curse bones mean you need the Doomsekkar Rod and the Dutchman's Rod before you start. Omniscient Souls costs 10,000 Treats.
11. Ghoul Nessie
Lanterns: one of each of the seven common ingredients. Destroyed lanterns: 3 Dark Art Skulls. Hands: all four FF3 skulls and an Omniscient Dobhar. The Omniscient mutation only comes from the Spinecaster, so this has to wait until after ritual 10.
Getting skulls: pools vs ghosts
Every 45 minutes a Frightful Pool spawns at Moosewood, the Statue of Sovereignty, Terrapin or Harvesters Spike, and it lasts 10 minutes. Grim, Vile and Doomed pools are about 26.6% each, and Eldritch pools are 20%.
| Skull | Frightful Pool | Captured ghost |
|---|---|---|
| Grim, Vile, Doomed | 0.5% per catch, in its own pool or the Eldritch pool | 8% each |
| Eldritch | 0.25% per catch, Eldritch pool only | 4% |
Pool rates are fixed, so Luck doesn't change them. At 0.5% you need 139 catches for even odds on one skull. For an Eldritch Skull it's 277.
Pools still pay 5 Treats per catch, and FischFright 3 rods get +25% stats inside them.
Just don't count on a pool to supply skulls.
Why the Haunted Ritual matters most
When you knock on a haunted house, the ghost scares you half the time and costs you 5 to 10 Treats. The other half it starts a capture minigame.
Win it and you get one roll from the ghost table: 28% for a skull of some kind, 15% for an Ethereal Rose, and a relic otherwise. Ghosts are also the only listed source of the Ethereal Rose, which wakes the second hand.
On their own, houses have a 12% chance every 90 seconds to become haunted for 10 minutes, and the wiki marks that number as unverified. The Haunted Ritual skips the wait and haunts one for 100 Treats, seven candy fish and a Bat Wing, every 10 minutes.
Run ritual 3 on every cooldown. It's the closest thing this event has to a skull farm.
The Treats bill
| Item | Treats | Needed for |
|---|---|---|
| Ritual fees (100 each) | 700 to reach ritual 7, 1,100 for all 11 | Every ritual |
| Davy's Rose | 5,000 | Third hand (rituals 6+) |
| Dutchman's Grasp | 25,000 | Ritual 6 |
| Omniscient Souls | 10,000 | Ritual 10 |
30,700 Treats gets you to the Dutchman's Rod and ritual 7. The whole chain is at least 41,100, plus whatever the two missing roses cost.
The wiki doesn't say whether hand items get used up when you wake a hand. If they do, add another 5,000 for each Davy's Rose.
Is the Omniscient Spinecaster worth it?
On paper, yes.
Omniscient is a 10.6x mutation, the highest in this event, ahead of Jack-o' at 9.5x.
The Spinecaster gets it through Crown of Bones, a 2-minute buff that goes up a tier with every perfect catch:
| Tier | Omniscient chance | Slash chance per fish move | Fish weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | 7% | 6% | +5% |
| II | 14% | 12% | +10% |
| III | 21% | 18% | +15% |
| IV | 28% | 24% | +20% |
| V | 35% | 30% | +25% |
| VI | 42% | 36% | +30% |
Each slash adds 5% progress and stuns the fish for half a second. Another perfect catch while it's active resets the 2-minute timer and moves you up a tier.
It only rewards perfect catches. If you miss perfects a lot, you'll spend most of your time at tier I, at 7%. Its base stats aren't on the wiki yet, so nobody can say how it fishes without the buff.
The two Nessie hunts
Zombie Nessie (ritual 8): 10 minutes in the Haunted Cemetery. Base weight is 1,600 kg, the bait is Black Licorice, and its listed conditions are Jack-o-Moon at night in autumn. You also need it in a lantern for ritual 10.
Ghoul Nessie (ritual 11): only 5 minutes, and half Zombie Nessie's base chance. Its bait is Sour Jelly Candy, which the cauldron gives at 230 Hex Energy.
The Dobhar that ritual 8 asks for comes only from Frightful Pools, at higher rates in Eldritch pools. If you're stuck waiting on roses anyway, fish pools and stock up.
