What Is DOORS?
DOORS is a cooperative horror/puzzle game by Lightning_Splash, released on Roblox in 2022. It has since surpassed 2 billion visits and established itself as one of the definitive Roblox horror experiences.
The premise is simple: open numbered doors from 1 to 100 and reach the end of the hotel. The hotel itself is procedurally generated — no two runs have the exact same room sequence, which keeps every playthrough fresh and unpredictable. Each room can contain loot, puzzles, and entities that want to kill you.
DOORS has expanded significantly since launch, adding Hotel+ (a harder variant of the base hotel) and The Mines (Floor 2), an entirely separate underground floor with new entities and mechanics.

Entity Guide
Every entity in DOORS — what it does, and exactly how to survive it.
Hostile Entities
HostileRush
One of the most common hostile entities. Appears as a red distortion blur that tears through the current hallway. Kills any player caught in the open.
How to Survive
When the lights flicker rapidly and you hear a rushing wind sound, immediately hide inside a closet or under a bed. Stay hidden until Rush passes — exiting too early is fatal. Rush can loop back once on some occurrences.
HostileAmbush
A more dangerous variant of Rush. Like Rush, Ambush charges through the hallway, but it bounces back and forth multiple times before disappearing — requiring players to stay hidden longer.
How to Survive
Hide immediately in a closet or under a bed the moment lights flicker. Do not exit until the hallway is completely quiet. Ambush makes multiple passes, so patience is critical.
HostileSeek
Seek appears as a large eye that watches players from walls, floors, and ceilings, eventually triggering a chase sequence. It's one of DOORS' signature encounters.
How to Survive
When the chase begins, sprint forward and dodge the obstacles Seek summons. Seek moves faster if you slow down. Learn the obstacle patterns — they are partially randomized but follow set categories. Reaching the end of the chase sequence will outrun Seek.
HostileFigure
A massive blind entity with acute hearing. Figure appears in the Library (around Room 50) and at Room 100. It cannot see players but will detect footsteps, sprinting, and nearby sounds.
How to Survive
At Room 50: hide inside a bookcase and complete the heartbeat minigame by pressing the button at the right timing intervals to avoid detection. At Room 100: navigate the area silently, avoid sprinting, and use the environment to stay out of Figure's patrol path. Never sprint near Figure.
HostileScreech
A small entity that lurks in dark rooms and makes a distinct "psst" sound to get your attention. Deals significant damage if ignored.
How to Survive
When you hear "Psst" in a dark room, quickly look at Screech and click (or tap on mobile). Reacting to Screech's prompt prevents damage. Carrying a Candle or Lighter reduces Screech's spawn chance in dark rooms.
HostileEyes
A cluster of floating eyes that deal continuous damage to any player who looks directly at them. Eyes appear in groups and drift slowly through rooms.
How to Survive
Do not look directly at Eyes. Move around them by keeping your camera facing away or looking at the floor/ceiling. Passing through the room while looking at the door ahead is usually safe.
HostileDupe
Dupe disguises itself as a numbered door. If a player enters a Dupe door, they take damage. Dupe doors display an incorrect room number.
How to Survive
Before opening any door, check the room number above it and compare with the number you expect. The real next door will always show the correct sequential room number. A door showing the wrong number is Dupe.
HostileHalt
Halt appears in long dark corridors and gives directional commands. Disobeying its commands deals damage.
How to Survive
Follow Halt's instructions precisely: stop walking when it says stop, and walk forward when it says go. Watch for when the environment visually flips — that signals a direction reversal. Players who follow the instructions correctly take no damage.
HostileGlitch
Glitch appears when a player lingers in one room for too long or backtracks excessively. It teleports the offending player backward several rooms.
How to Survive
Keep moving forward consistently. Glitch is a penalty for stalling, not a direct threat to your health. If you need to wait for teammates, do so inside a room you just entered rather than lingering in a previous room.
HostileVoid
Void fills a room when players remain stationary or move backward for an extended period. Contact with Void is instantly fatal.
How to Survive
Keep moving forward. Void is a hard enforcement of the game's forward-progression design. If you are stuck on a puzzle, work through it quickly rather than going back.
Neutral Entities
NeutralJack
Jack is a jump scare entity that can appear when opening lockers, doors, or at the very start of a run. It deals a small amount of damage and disappears immediately.
Notes
Jack's jump scare is unavoidable when triggered but deals minimal damage. Do not panic and exit a closet immediately after — Rush could still be active. Jack does not pursue players.
NeutralTimothy
Timothy is a small spider that hides inside drawers. Opening a drawer with Timothy inside triggers a jump scare and deals minor damage.
Notes
There is no way to know if a drawer contains Timothy before opening it. The damage is small — treat it as a cost of looting. Timothy cannot follow or pursue players.
Friendly Characters
FriendlyGuiding Light
Guiding Light is the benevolent spirit that appears as a warm light throughout the hotel. It provides cryptic hints, warns players of upcoming dangers, and uses Revivals to bring deceased players back to life.
Role
Interact with Guiding Light whenever it appears — it always provides helpful context. If you die with a Revival in your possession, Guiding Light will use it to revive you at the nearest safe point.
FriendlyEl Goblino
El Goblino is a recurring friendly NPC character who appears throughout the hotel and delivers humorous, lore-flavored dialogue. He is harmless and a fan favorite.
Role
No survival required — just talk to him. El Goblino sometimes drops lore hints disguised in comedic dialogue.
FriendlyJeff
Jeff is the shopkeeper who runs Jeff's Shop — a mid-run store where players can spend Knobs on healing items, tools, and equipment.
Role
Jeff appears at a dedicated shop room mid-run. Spend Knobs wisely: prioritize Bandages and Revivals over cosmetic upgrades if you are still learning the game.

Floor Guide
DOORS currently has three playable floors, each with unique environments and challenges.
The Hotel
Rooms 1–100
The original floor. A sprawling procedurally generated hotel filled with rooms, hallways, libraries, storage areas, and event rooms. Every run generates a unique sequence of rooms from a pool of templates.
- Rooms 1–49: General hotel rooms with loot, entities, and environmental puzzles
- Room 50: The Library — Figure encounter requiring the bookcase-hiding heartbeat minigame
- Rooms 51–99: Hotel continues with increased entity frequency
- Room 100: Final encounter with Figure in a large multi-room area — requires stealth navigation
- Jeff's Shop appears at one or more mid-run rooms for purchasing items
- Seek chase sequences occur around Rooms 30–35 and 70–75 (approximate ranges)
Hotel+
Rooms 1–100 (modified)
An enhanced, harder version of The Hotel with additional entity encounters, modifiers, and increased difficulty. Unlocked after completing the standard Hotel.
- All original Hotel entities appear with higher frequency
- Additional modifiers can stack, increasing challenge
- Same room range (1–100) but encounter rates and layouts are altered
- Designed for experienced players who have mastered the base Hotel run
The Mines (Floor 2)
Accessible after Room 100
A second major floor added in a significant post-launch update. The Mines takes place underground beneath the hotel in a cave and tunnel environment with new entities, new items, and new mechanics distinct from the Hotel.
- New environment: cave systems, mineshafts, underground tunnels
- New entities exclusive to The Mines not found in the Hotel
- New items and loot types specific to the underground environment
- Separate progression from the Hotel — completing it is a distinct achievement
- Check the DOORS Wiki for current room count and entity roster for The Mines as it has expanded with updates
Beginner Survival Tips
Loot every drawer and cabinet you see. Knobs add up quickly and give you more options at Jeff's Shop.
The moment lights flicker rapidly, find a closet or bed — do not try to identify the entity first. Rush kills in under a second.
At Room 50 (Library), hide inside a bookcase before Figure spots you. Do not sprint in that room under any circumstances.
Carry a Candle or Lighter whenever you can afford one. Light sources drastically reduce Screech encounters in dark rooms.
Spend Knobs at Jeff's Shop conservatively early on. Prioritize one Bandage and one Revival — extra purchases can wait until you're confident about the run.
Rush and Ambush look similar. If the entity passes once and the lights are still flickering, stay hidden — it could be Ambush making a second pass.
Check door numbers before opening any door. If the number doesn't match the one you expect, back away — that's Dupe.
Keep moving forward. Stalling too long in one room triggers Glitch (teleports you back) or Void (instantly lethal).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is DOORS on Roblox?
DOORS is a Roblox horror/puzzle game developed by Lightning_Splash. Players navigate through 100 procedurally generated rooms in a haunted hotel, avoiding deadly entities and solving environmental puzzles. It launched in 2022 and has accumulated over 2 billion visits, making it one of the most-played horror games on Roblox.
How do I survive Rush in DOORS?
Rush announces itself with rapidly flickering lights and a rushing sound effect. The moment you notice the lights flicker, run to the nearest closet or slide under a bed. Stay hidden until the sound completely fades — Rush can pass through multiple rooms. Do not exit early.
How do I beat Figure in Room 50?
At Room 50 (The Library), find a bookcase to hide inside before Figure spots you. Once inside, you must complete a heartbeat minigame — press the button precisely when the indicator reaches the correct zone. Missing too many beats causes Figure to find you. Figure is blind and navigates by sound, so stay hidden and stay quiet.
What is the difference between Rush and Ambush?
Both entities charge through the hallway and require you to hide. The key difference is that Ambush bounces back and makes multiple passes through the room — you must stay hidden significantly longer. Rush typically makes one or two passes. If you exit the hiding spot too early against Ambush, you will take fatal damage.
How does Screech work and how do I stop it?
Screech lurks in dark rooms and whispers "Psst" to signal its presence. When you hear it, quickly find and click (or tap) on Screech. If you react in time, Screech disappears without dealing damage. If you ignore it, it attacks and deals significant health loss. Light sources like Candles and Lighters reduce Screech's appearance frequency.
What are Knobs used for in DOORS?
Knobs are the in-game currency. You earn them by looting drawers, cabinets, and chests throughout each run. Spend them at Jeff's Shop (which appears mid-run) to buy Bandages, Revivals, Vitamins, Candles, Lockpicks, and Crucifixes. Managing your Knob budget efficiently is an important skill for long runs.
What does a Revival do in DOORS?
A Revival is a single-use item that allows Guiding Light to resurrect you at the nearest safe checkpoint after death. Without a Revival, dying ends your run entirely and you must start over from Room 1. Revivals can be purchased from Jeff's Shop or earned via codes like "777".
What is Hotel+ in DOORS?
Hotel+ is a harder version of the standard Hotel floor. It uses the same Room 1–100 structure but with increased entity frequency, additional modifiers, and more challenging encounter configurations. It is intended for players who have already completed the standard Hotel run.
Is there a Floor 2 in DOORS?
Yes. The Mines is the second major floor in DOORS, accessible after completing The Hotel. It takes place underground in a cave and mine-shaft environment with new entities, new items, and new mechanics. The Mines has been expanded in updates since launch — check the DOORS Fandom wiki for the current room count and entity list.
How do I redeem codes in DOORS?
From the main menu, click the Store icon at the bottom of the screen, then navigate to the Codes tab. Enter your code exactly as shown (DOORS codes are case-sensitive) and click Redeem. The code "777" gives 777 Knobs, 7 Stardust, and 1 Revival.
