Last Verified: October 4, 2026. Patch notes from the developers' Helping Happy announcement as quoted by Sportskeeda. Badge rewards and item stats from the 99 Nights in the Forest Wiki (Fandom). Quest steps cross-checked against GosuGamers and TechWiser. Not published yet: Happy's Scythe damage per level and an end date for the quest.

The three Helping Happy badges pay 21 Diamonds between them. Surviving past Day 99 on normal pays 3, and clearing every Daily Quest pays 15. For a short pre-Halloween quest that also hands you Happy's Cart, that's a lot of Diamonds.

The update went live on October 3, 2026.

Helping Happy at a glance

StepWhat to do
1Talk to Happy's head at the wooden stake next to the campfire, then pick up Happy's Scythe
2Find all six body parts: Left Arm, Right Arm, Left Leg, Right Leg, Torso, Hat
3Put Happy back together at the stake
4The Ram knocks his head off again. At night, lure the Ram into something solid so the head comes loose
5Reattach the head and pick one reward: Vampire Cloak, Bouncing Blade or Laser Cannon

All six body part locations

Three parts are sitting in new Halloween buildings that appear as you open up the map. Two you have to take off an enemy, and the Torso costs you 8 pumpkins.

PartWhere it isHow you get it
Right LegHalloween WindmillWalk in and grab it
Left LegHalloween BarnWalk in and grab it
Left ArmHalloween stone-brick buildingWalk in and grab it
Right ArmIn an Alpha Wolf's mouthKill the wolf and it drops the arm
HatOn a Cultist's headKill the Cultist and it drops the Hat
TorsoUnder a cart at the Pumpkin FarmHarvest 8 pumpkins and load them onto the cart

The Right Arm is the one that slows people down. Alpha Wolves only spawn in The Forest once your campfire hits Level 3 or higher, and in other biomes they also need it to be night.

So on a fresh run, upgrade the fire before you go hunting for the arm. An Alpha Wolf has 125 HP and hits for 25, which is a real fight with a starter weapon.

The Hat is easier.

Regular and raid Cultists have 100 to 150 HP, and they come to you during nightly campfire raids anyway.

Happy's Scythe: level it on webs

The Scythe starts out hitting about as hard as the Spear, which the wiki lists at 25 damage. It gets stronger as it levels, and Level 3 is the cap.

It earns XP from hitting wolves, cobwebs and other targets. Cobwebs are the good part. Break one and it spawns a random item: ammo, morsels, or sometimes a Cultist.

Two of the three badges run through this one tool. Reaping wants a max-level Scythe, and Sweeping wants 200 webs destroyed with it.

Start breaking webs with the Scythe as soon as you pick it up. Every web counts toward Sweeping and feeds Scythe XP, so you knock out both badges together.

Web-clearing in the dark will pull surprise Cultists. Don't sweep at the edge of the map with no health and no backup.

The Ram step (and the biome catch)

Once all six parts are on the stake, Happy gets a short celebration. Then the Ram comes back and knocks his pumpkin head clean off again.

You get it back by waiting for the Ram at night and baiting it into something solid. A stone structure or a tree both work. When it slams into one, the head pops loose and you can put it back on.

Stand with a tree or a stone wall directly behind you, let the Ram line up its charge, and step out of the way at the last second. It pauses before charging, which gives you the window.

The Ram is unkillable, runs at a walk speed of 30, and deals 25 or more damage depending on the day count. It's also scared of light and leaves when morning comes, which sets your deadline: if dawn breaks before you land the hit, you're waiting for the next night.

Outside this quest, the Ram only spawns on maps with the Volcano biome. Jungle maps get The Cat and Snow maps get The Owl instead.

The quest guides all describe the Ram returning at night for this step, and none of them mention a biome condition. If you're on a Jungle or Snow map and the Ram never shows up, that's the first thing to rule out.

Which reward to take

You get one of the three, and whatever you pick only lasts the current run, per TechWiser.

RewardWhat it does (wiki)Take it if
Laser Cannon70 damage on a direct hit, area damage, instant projectile. Each shot uses about 60 to 80% of the Alien Tech Energy barYou're not playing Cyborg
Vampire CloakCuts damage taken. A blood meter fills at night and heals you when it hits 100. The wiki rates it weaker than Iron ArmorYou don't have Iron Armor yet
Bouncing BladeHits bounce to a nearby enemy, and hits fill a lifesteal bar that heals you when fullYou're the one clearing wolf packs up close

Take the Laser Cannon on most teams. 70 damage plus area splash handles the raid waves that wreck runs. Skip it if you're on Cyborg: the class already spawns with a Laser Cannon, so a second one wastes the pick.

The Vampire Cloak is the trap option.

By the time most teams finish this quest they've already got Iron Armor, and the wiki is clear that the Cloak is the weaker of the two.

Badges, Diamonds and Happy's Cart

Earn all three and you can claim Happy's Cart, a new piece of furniture.

BadgeRequirementDifficultyDiamonds
ReapingLevel Happy's Scythe to max (Level 3)1.5 stars5
StrawcraftHelp your team put Happy back together2 stars8
SweepingDestroy 200 webs with Happy's Scythe2.5 stars8
Total21

What else pays Diamonds:

  • Cultist Stronghold Diamond Chest: 5
  • Surviving past Day 99 on normal: 3 (8 on Hard Mode)
  • Finishing all three Daily Quests: 15

Badge Diamonds are one-time. Still, 21 beats four Strongholds, and Diamonds are what buy Classes and talent rolls in the lobby.

Strawcraft's wording says "help your team", so it looks like everyone who pitches in on the rebuild gets it. Reaping and Sweeping are both tied to the Scythe itself.

The rest of the patch notes

The developers opened the notes with "Happy the Halloween guy is back", and the rest is a long list of small fixes. The ones that change how you play:

  • Basketball now has to go through the hoop. You can't drag it in anymore.
  • Entities no longer have silent footsteps, so you'll hear more of what's coming.
  • The Compass now shows trinkets and more shopkeepers.
  • Map icons now mark structures without chests once you've visited them.
  • Snowy trees can be planted.
  • The Hammer can disable seats on furniture and move teleporters in your base.
  • Items like MREs can no longer go in the Crock Pot.
  • Things now teleport at the bottom of the frog whirlpool.
  • Pings were added to many more objects, and some sounds that played server-wide are now local.
  • A fix for mouse lock breaking, wet logs that are "less blue", new armor for the woman package, a mobile button size setting in the lobby, and tapping a player's map icon now shows their avatar.

The Compass change helps this quest directly. Hunting three Halloween buildings across a map you haven't fully opened is a lot faster when it marks more of what's out there.

What this is setting up

Happy isn't new. Last October he ran the Halloween candy shop in the lobby, and the wiki counts 4,255 Candy to buy everything he sold.

This quest is the warm-up. GosuGamers reports the full Halloween event is planned for the next biweekly update on October 18, 2026. The developers' own note hints at it too: Happy is "preparing the map for Halloween".

New to the game? The 99 Nights in the Forest hub has the basics, and the items list has every weapon and armor piece above. If you're doing this on a Hard Mode run, read the Hard Mode guide first, because the Ram hits harder as the day count climbs.

FAQ

How do you complete Helping Happy in 99 Nights in the Forest?

Pick up Happy's Scythe at the stake by the campfire, find his six body parts, rebuild him at the stake, then lure the Ram into a tree or stone wall at night to knock his head loose and reattach it.

Where are Happy's body parts?

Right Leg in the Halloween Windmill, Left Leg in the Halloween Barn, Left Arm in a stone-brick building, Right Arm from an Alpha Wolf, Hat from a Cultist, and the Torso under a cart at the Pumpkin Farm after you load 8 pumpkins.

How do you get Happy's Cart?

Earn all three Helping Happy badges: Reaping, Strawcraft and Sweeping. Happy's Cart is a furniture reward for finishing the set.

How many Diamonds do the Helping Happy badges give?

21 in total, according to the wiki: 5 for Reaping, 8 for Strawcraft and 8 for Sweeping.

What is the max level of Happy's Scythe?

Level 3. It levels up from hitting wolves, cobwebs and other targets, and reaching Level 3 earns the Reaping badge.

Which Helping Happy reward is best?

The Laser Cannon for most teams, since it hits for 70 and splashes. Skip it if you're playing Cyborg, which already spawns with one.

When is the 99 Nights Halloween update?

GosuGamers reports it's planned for the next biweekly update on October 18, 2026.
