No spam — 1–2 emails per week with the latest Roblox event guides and code drops.

Last Verified: August 9, 2026 (14:00 UTC). Every rod stat, NPC name, mutation, boss detail, and code reward below is pulled straight from the official Fisch Wiki — the Version 1.96 patch notes, the Monstrous Cusk and Monstrous Cusk Hunt pages, the Luminous Rod, Titanium Rod, Scrap-Cannon, and Sightless Oracle pages, and the Codes page. Anything the wiki has not yet published (the Cusk Purger, Scalding Hook, Titanic Scalder, Cusk-Shot, and Prism Spear item pages are still stubs at time of writing) is called out inline as unverified. No invented stats, no fake rewards, no fabricated abilities.

Stop scrolling. The launch code TheDeepIsVeryDeep expires today, August 9, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. That is a hard clock — miss the window and you lose the free Cleaned Scrap-Bot companion skin, 20 event baits, and a random totem worth grinding for. Redeem first, read second. Everything else in the update is permanent; the code is not.

Version 1.96.0 — "The Deep" went live on August 8, 2026 at 16:30 UTC and it is one of the largest single expansions Fisch has ever shipped. A brand-new underwater biome. 61 new fish across three sub-zones. Four new rods, four new harpoon guns, a new spear, a passive companion pet, five-plus new mutations, and a boss encounter that turns a normal hunt into a two-stage harpoon chase. Here is the full breakdown, one wiki-cited fact at a time.

Redeem the Code First — TheDeepIsVeryDeep

Per the Fisch Wiki Codes page, the launch-window code TheDeepIsVeryDeep was added August 8, 2026 and expires August 9, 2026 at 16:00 UTC — a 24-hour window and no longer. If you are reading this in the Americas, that is roughly noon Eastern / 9 AM Pacific.

Requirements: Level 25 or higher. Redeem it in the "Other" section of the Settings menu — codes are not case-sensitive.

What you get, all in one redemption:

  • C$1,000
  • Cleaned Scrap-Bot Companion Skin — the recolored version of the new pet. Code-exclusive; it is not available anywhere else in the game.
  • 5x Coral Pearl bait
  • 5x Cotton Candy Pieces bait
  • 5x Icy Fisch'n Dots bait
  • 5x Tropical Fruit Mix bait
  • 1x random totem from the pool: Dripstone Collapse Totem, Starfall Totem, Rainbow Totem, Bloop Whistle, Megalodon Hunt Totem, Kraken Hunt Totem, Scylla Hunt Totem, or Colossal Dragon Hunt Totem.

Bank the totem. Some of these (Scylla, Colossal Dragon, Kraken) are the strongest hunt-summon items in the game. Do not use it in a low-XP session — save it for a proper party or a peak-hour server.

TL;DR — Everything Confirmed in 1.96.0

  • Release: Version 1.96.0, live August 8, 2026 at 16:30 UTC.
  • 1 new location: The Deep — a full underwater biome.
  • 3 new sub-locations: Outer Deep, Lower Deep, Gloomy Crevice.
  • 61 new fish spread across three new Bestiary categories tied to the sub-zones.
  • 4 new rods: Cusk Purger, Luminous Rod, Scalding Hook, Titanium Rod (wiki notes "to be extended," so more may drop with follow-up patches).
  • 4 new harpoon guns: Cusk-Shot, Scrap-Cannon, Titanic Scalder, Sightless Oracle.
  • 1 new spear: Prism Spear.
  • 1 new companion: Scrap-Bot — the first true passive material-gathering companion in Fisch.
  • New mutations: Bioluminescent, Entrenched, Luminous, and Titanium in the patch-notes list, plus Refracted (Sightless Oracle) and Rusty (Scrap-Cannon) confirmed on the individual harpoon pages.
  • 16+ new NPCs: Chief Engineer Nereus, Tinkerer Orik, Dr. Vane, The Blind Oracle, The Cartographer, Curator Lyra, Quartermaster Val, Shipwright Kael, Deep Sea Stylist Corin, Artisan Nix, Hunter Dan, Sledge, Versper of the Deep, Cadet Shimmerfin, Forge Hand Marcus, Bounty Tracker (wiki flags the list as "to be extended").
  • 1 localized boss event: Monstrous Cusk Hunt — 10-minute duration, spawn triggered by Disturbance.
  • 1 admin event: Gurt Nightmare.
  • Bestiary bonus: 4 previously Extinct-rarity fish are obtainable again (see the Balance Changes section below).
  • 1 code: TheDeepIsVeryDeep — expires August 9, 16:00 UTC.

How to Actually Reach The Deep

There is no teleport for this one. You need to travel by boat. Community entry guides consistently point to the same route: head to Sunstone Island, follow the island around to the deeper water behind it, look for the small boat with an NPC waiting near the edge, and speak to them. That NPC hands you the Deep Survey Device (Inactive) — the required accessory that lets you breathe and move on the seafloor once repaired.

Once activated, the Survey Device swaps normal swimming for low-gravity seafloor walking. Combat-relevant catches roam the Outer Deep with contact damage on hit, so having the Survey Device charged and mobile is mandatory before you push toward Deep City.

The Deep Survey Device MK II — with the Light Module upgrade — is the gate for the deepest sub-zone, the Gloomy Crevice. Without it, that section is pitch-black and unlit sectors get significantly more hostile.

Reality check for veterans: this is not a "swim there in five minutes" zone. The wiki's item list alone includes 16-plus crafting materials (Abyssal Bio-Fluid, Ancient Bone, Chitin Plate, Bone Shard, Prism Scale, Salvage Scrap, Hydro Core, Abyssal Lens, Reinforced Housing, Bioluminescent Battery, and more), and every new rod and harpoon runs through a specific NPC's questline. Plan on a multi-session unlock, not a one-shot rush.

The Three Sub-Zones: Outer Deep, Lower Deep, Gloomy Crevice

Per the 1.96 patch notes, The Deep contains three connected sub-locations, and each ties to specific rods and questlines:

  • Outer Deep — the entry-and-hub area, home to Dr. Vane (Luminous Rod quest), Sledge (Scrap-Cannon quest), and Chief Engineer Nereus (the beacon-repair questline that permanently lights sectors and reduces fish hostility once completed).
  • Lower Deep — deeper into the biome, gated by beacon progression. This is where The Blind Oracle hands out the Sightless Oracle harpoon gun questline.
  • Gloomy Crevice — the pitch-black bottom of the biome. Requires the Deep Survey Device MK II with the Light Module. Home Bestiary for the Monstrous Cusk. You can only fish the Monstrous Cusk here, and only during an active Monstrous Cusk Hunt event.

Restoring the sector beacons is the single highest-leverage thing to do early. Chief Engineer Nereus's questline hands you crafted Hydro Cores and Bioluminescent Batteries to slot into each beacon; every restored beacon permanently lights that sector and reduces the hostility rate of nearby fish. If you are getting torn up by roaming fish in Outer Deep, that is your fix.

The Four New Rods — Real Stats vs. Speculation

The wiki has full stat blocks published for the Luminous Rod and Titanium Rod. Cusk Purger and Scalding Hook pages exist but are still stubs. Do not trust the "full Cusk Purger stat sheet" videos already circulating on TikTok — those are guessed values. Here is what the wiki actually confirms right now.

Luminous Rod — Dr. Vane's Reward (Outer Deep)

Per the wiki stat block:

StatValue
Lure70
Luck95
Control0.1
Resilience25
Max Weight60,000 kg
Line Distance40

Ability: 10% chance for Bioluminescent, 30% chance for Luminous, plus +10 Progress Speed. Flavor: "Dr. Vane's favorite rod, it casts an otherworldly glow into the abyss, luring nocturnal horrors from the deepest trenches."

Read: mid-tier stat block, but the 30% Luminous roll is what makes this rod. Luminous is one of the new Deep-tier mutations — you will want a rod that rolls it on roughly a third of catches to grind up the mutation-heavy new Bestiaries fast. Journal XP for the entry is 2,000.

Titanium Rod — Crafted at Ancient Archives

Per the wiki stat block:

StatValue
Lure100
Luck180
Control0.3
Resilience75
Max WeightInfinity
Durability200
Line Distance120

Ability: 20% chance for the Titanium mutation, plus a slash mechanic — every 0.5 seconds, 35% chance to slash for 5% Progress and stun the fish for 0.15 seconds — plus +30% Progress Speed.

Recipe (crafted at the Ancient Archives anvil): Level 250, C$200,000, plus 1 Titanium Shaft, 1 Titanium Reel, and 5 Refined Scrap.

Read: this is the high-end rod of the update. Infinity max weight puts it in the same class as Olympian Godbreaker and the Crowbar, and the automatic slash-and-stun ability paired with +30% Progress Speed makes it genuinely competitive as an all-purpose grinder. The Refined Scrap cost is the wall — Salvage Scrap and its refined variant are new Deep drops, so unlocking this rod means putting real time into the Outer Deep material grind first.

Scalding Hook & Cusk Purger — Wiki Still Silent

Both rods are confirmed in the 1.96 patch notes, but the wiki pages have no stat blocks or ability descriptions yet. Multi-source community reporting places Scalding Hook as a mid-tier rod with a heat/speed passive and Cusk Purger as the top-tier reward tied to the Monstrous Cusk Hunt chain. Treat those descriptions as directional until the wiki catches up — we will update this post the moment the stat blocks land.

Harpoon Guns, the Prism Spear & Stat Chips

Four new harpoon guns and one new spear. Wiki-confirmed stats where available:

Scrap-Cannon — Sledge's Third Quest (Outer Deep)

Per the wiki: Power 17, Range 64, Reload 5, Velocity 10, Resilience 30, Accuracy 20, Max Weight 25,000 kg. Ability: 30% chance for the new Rusty mutation, +30% starting progress at the start of the minigame, but −10% Progress Speed once it starts. Flavor: "Assembled from discarded junk, this crude launcher fires heavy metal chunks that instantly shatter a target's stamina."

Sightless Oracle — The Blind Oracle's Questline (Lower Deep)

Per the wiki: Power 12, Range 100, Reload 3, Velocity 32, Resilience 15, Accuracy 25, Max Weight 75,000 kg. Ability: 50% chance for the new Refracted mutation. Flavor: "A sacred relic granted by the Shrine's hermit, its lineless shots automatically lock onto nearby prey, growing exponentially stronger with every accurate strike."

Complete The Blind Oracle's questline and you also earn the Oracle Blaster harpoon-gun skin — a quest-exclusive cosmetic for the Sightless Oracle itself.

Titanic Scalder, Cusk-Shot, Prism Spear

All three are confirmed in the 1.96 patch notes, but their individual wiki pages have no stat blocks yet. Any specific damage numbers or ability text you see circulating in the next 24 hours is speculation — the wiki editors have not verified those items, and neither have we.

Stat Chips

The update also introduces Stat Chips — a new item category that tunes ranged-gear performance. Community reporting groups these into four axes (Accuracy, Range, Resilience, Power); the wiki has the category listed but has not yet published the drop tables. Save any chips you loot until the recipe and drop data solidify.

Scrap-Bot: The First Real Passive Companion

The Scrap-Bot is a new companion (a distinct category from pets — it counts as a Companion, not a fish pet) obtained from Tinkerer Orik's questline in Outer Deep. Once unlocked, it passively retrieves materials and helps catch fish without input.

Two important notes:

  1. The base Scrap-Bot is a quest reward. Get it from Tinkerer Orik.
  2. The Cleaned Scrap-Bot skin is code-exclusive. That is the only way to get the recolored version, and the code expires today (see the top of this guide). If you skip the code, you skip the skin forever.

For solo grinders in the Outer Deep, this is arguably the single best quality-of-life addition in the update. Chip away at Tinkerer Orik's questline first if you play long sessions — the compounding material returns pay for the quest inside a couple of hours.

The Monstrous Cusk Hunt — Boss Fight Breakdown

This is the update's boss encounter. Per the Monstrous Cusk Hunt wiki page:

  • Event type: Localized event (server-wide notification, one active per server at a time).
  • Duration: 10 minutes, or until a Monstrous Cusk is caught.
  • Trigger: Spawns naturally via Disturbance — no player-summon item required.
  • Server notice: "A Monstrous Cusk stirs within the Gloomy Crevice..."
  • Risk level: 1000 (top-tier).

The Two-Stage Fight

Stage 1 (Gloomy Crevice): the Monstrous Cusk swims around the Gloomy Crevice. Any player must equip a Harpoon Gun and land a headshot. Landing that headshot triggers the second stage.

Stage 2 (The Deep): the Cusk swims up from the Crevice into The Deep proper. Land a second headshot with your Harpoon Gun to hook it. Only then can it be caught.

Per the Monstrous Cusk item page, the fish itself is Exotic rarity, base weight 13,000 kg, weight range 3,000 kg, base value C$45,000, and hands out 22,000 XP per catch. Conditions on the wiki: Rain or Foggy weather, Night, Autumn or Winter season, Bio-Infused Coral bait, −90 Progress Speed penalty. Progress Lock is active, meaning the difficulty is significant even after the two harpoon stages.

Catch quips (dialog on successful catch, per the wiki) include lines like "AN ABSOLUTE DEEP TITAN!" and "WHAT IS THAT MASSIVE MONSTROSITY?!" — you will know when you have actually landed one.

The New Mutations

Straight from the 1.96 patch notes and the rod/harpoon ability descriptions, the update adds these mutations:

  • Bioluminescent — 10% chance on Luminous Rod catches.
  • Luminous — 30% chance on Luminous Rod. Deep-tier value multiplier.
  • Titanium — 20% chance on Titanium Rod.
  • Entrenched — listed in the mutation additions; source and multiplier not yet published.
  • Refracted — 50% chance on Sightless Oracle harpoon hits.
  • Rusty — 30% chance on Scrap-Cannon harpoon hits.

The wiki flags the mutation list as "to be extended" — expect more to be documented as the community datamines the update over the next few days.

Balance Changes, Titles, Boats, Bundles & Skins

Extinct Rarity Rollback (Big News for Bestiary Hunters)

Per the 1.96 patch notes, four previously Extinct-rarity fish have been made obtainable again:

  • Bigfin Squid: Extinct → Rare
  • Snipefish: Extinct → Unusual
  • Tripod Fish: Extinct → Rare
  • X-ray Tetra: Extinct → Legendary

If you are chasing 100% Bestiary completion on old regions, this is the first time in a long stretch these are back on the table. Prioritize X-ray Tetra — it moved from Extinct all the way to Legendary and is now catchable normally.

New Titles, Boats, Bundles

  • Titles: Trench Marksman, Sightless Scholar, City Benefactor.
  • Boats: Onyxum (shop-purchased) and Hydro-Skiff (quest reward).
  • Bundle: Joyous Bundle (paid).
  • Glider: Joyous Hat (shop-exclusive).
  • Bobber: Joyous Dog (shop-exclusive).

New Rod Skins

The update also adds five new rod cosmetic skins — one from Rod Mastery, four from Shop:

  • Rivière Astrale — for Astraeus Serenade (Rod Mastery reward).
  • Fishcake Snack — for Tranquility Rod.
  • Gloombear — for Bellona's Waraxe.
  • Joyous Lollipop — for Crowbar.
  • Mango Tango! — for Lemonade Serenade.

The Day-1 Grind Priority List

You have limited time before the code window closes, and the update is large enough that trying to do everything at once burns the whole weekend. Priority order:

  1. Redeem TheDeepIsVeryDeep now. Before you do anything else. The code expires at 16:00 UTC today.
  2. Get the Deep Survey Device. Sunstone Island → NPC with the small boat → accept the device. Everything else in the Deep is gated behind this.
  3. Chief Engineer Nereus's beacon quests. Restore Outer Deep beacons for permanent lighting and reduced fish hostility. Highest quality-of-life gain per hour played.
  4. Tinkerer Orik's Scrap-Bot questline. Passive material collection compounds over every session that follows.
  5. Dr. Vane's Luminous Rod quest. Real published stat block, 30% Luminous roll, mid-tier Progress Speed. Solid daily-driver in the new Bestiary.
  6. Grind Refined Scrap toward the Titanium Rod craft. Long-term goal but the payoff — Infinity max weight, +30% Progress Speed, auto-slash mechanic — is worth building toward.
  7. Only then push toward the Gloomy Crevice and Monstrous Cusk Hunt. Save this for when you have the MK II Survey Device and a solid harpoon in hand.

FAQ

When did Fisch The Deep update release?

Version 1.96.0 went live on August 8, 2026 at 16:30 UTC, per the official Fisch Wiki 1.96 patch notes page. It is the ninety-seventh release version of Fisch.

What is the code for The Deep update?

TheDeepIsVeryDeep — added August 8, 2026 and expiring August 9, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. Level 25+ required. Rewards include C$1,000, the Cleaned Scrap-Bot companion skin, 20 event baits (5 each of Coral Pearl, Cotton Candy Pieces, Icy Fisch'n Dots, and Tropical Fruit Mix), and one random totem from a pool of eight.

Is the code TheDeepIsVeryDeep still working?

Only if you redeem it before August 9, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. Per the Fisch Wiki Codes page, this is a launch-window code, not a permanent code. Do not confuse it with CARBON (which never expires) or SCARLET (active through December 2026).

How do I get to The Deep?

Travel by boat to Sunstone Island, then find the small boat around the far side of the island with an NPC waiting nearby. Speak to that NPC to receive the Deep Survey Device (Inactive). Once you activate the device, you can dive to the Deep and walk on the seafloor with the low-gravity movement it provides.

What rods are actually confirmed with real stats?

Luminous Rod (Lure 70, Luck 95, Control 0.1, Resilience 25, Max weight 60,000 kg) and Titanium Rod (Lure 100, Luck 180, Control 0.3, Resilience 75, Max weight Infinity, Durability 200, Line Distance 120) both have full wiki stat blocks. Cusk Purger and Scalding Hook are named in the patch notes but their item pages are still stubs — any specific stat sheet floating around for those two right now is guesswork.

How do I fight the Monstrous Cusk?

The Monstrous Cusk Hunt is a localized event that spawns naturally via Disturbance in the Gloomy Crevice. It lasts 10 minutes and only one instance is active per server at a time. To catch: equip a Harpoon Gun, land a headshot in the Gloomy Crevice (triggers Stage 2), then land a second headshot as the Cusk swims into The Deep to hook it. It is Exotic rarity with base value C$45,000 and 22,000 XP per catch.

What does the Scrap-Bot companion actually do?

Scrap-Bot is a passive Companion (distinct category from fish pets) that automatically retrieves materials and helps catch fish while you are active in the Deep. The base version comes from Tinkerer Orik's questline in Outer Deep. The Cleaned Scrap-Bot recolor skin comes only from the launch code.

Are any old fish back from Extinct?

Yes — four. Bigfin Squid (now Rare), Snipefish (now Unusual), Tripod Fish (now Rare), and X-ray Tetra (now Legendary). This is the first meaningful Extinct rollback the game has run in a while. Bestiary completionists should chase X-ray Tetra first.

Does The Deep change existing rod stats?

No. The Deep introduces new rods and new mutation multipliers but does not touch existing rod stats. Cross-check the Fisch Rod Tier List — the Stage 10 pool (Olympian Godbreaker, Crowbar) is unchanged in ability text as of 1.96.0.
