MM2 Strategy Master Guide

Learn the techniques used by competitive MM2 players. From flick aiming to perk optimization, master every aspect of Murder Mystery 2 gameplay.

Sheriff Strategy

Protect the Innocents, Eliminate the Murderer

The Flick Aiming Technique

Flick aiming is the most important skill for any Sheriff. Instead of tracking your target, you keep your crosshair near them and make a quick, sharp movement (flick) to align your shot the moment before firing.

Step 1

Position crosshair near target, not directly on them

Step 2

Wait for the right moment (they stop or commit to an action)

Step 3

Flick to target and fire in one smooth motion

Flick Aiming

Essential

The primary aiming technique in competitive MM2. Keep your crosshair near the target, then quickly "flick" to them and fire in one smooth motion.

Positioning

Essential

Stay in open areas with long sightlines. Avoid corners where the Murderer can ambush you. High ground provides better vision.

Gun Concealment

Essential

Never reveal your gun early. Walk with other Innocents to blend in. The Murderer will prioritize you once identified.

Gun Drop Strategy

Advanced

If cornered with no shot, consider dying in an open area so Innocents can easily pick up your gun.

Sound Awareness

Advanced

Listen for knife throws and footsteps. The knife has a distinct sound that can help you locate the Murderer.

Predictive Shooting

Pro

In 1v1s, anticipate where the Murderer will move. Aim where they're going, not where they are.

Critical Warning

NEVER shoot an Innocent. If you kill an Innocent as Sheriff, you die immediately and drop your gun. Always be 100% certain before firing.

Murderer Strategy

Eliminate All Players Before Time Runs Out

The Jump-Throw Technique

Jumping while throwing your knife is essential for competitive play. It makes you a harder target while throwing, and can alter the knife trajectory to catch opponents off-guard.

Timing

Throw at the peak of your jump for maximum unpredictability. Practice the timing until it becomes muscle memory.

Trajectory

The knife travels in a slight arc when thrown while jumping. Account for this when aiming at targets at different elevations.

Target Priority

Essential

Always identify and eliminate the Sheriff first if possible. Watch for players who hold back or position strategically.

Jump Throwing

Essential

Jump while throwing your knife to alter the trajectory and make yourself harder to hit. Essential for competitive play.

Perk Selection

Essential

Haste for public lobbies (speed advantage), Sleight for 1v1s (faster throw recovery), X-Ray for large maps.

Camp the Gun

Advanced

If you kill the Sheriff in a corner, guard that spot. Innocents must come to you to become a Hero.

Fake Innocence

Advanced

Walk with groups, collect coins, act scared. Many players won't suspect you if you blend in.

Prediction & Timing

Pro

In 1v1s, learn to predict when opponents will shoot. Throw during their cooldown or while they're focused on dodging.

Innocent Strategy

Survive Until the Timer Runs Out

Stay in Groups

Essential

There's safety in numbers. The Murderer is less likely to attack when witnesses are around.

Learn Escape Routes

Essential

Know every map's layout and exits. When the Murderer attacks, escape quickly rather than watching.

Watch for Tells

Essential

Look for players who avoid groups, position strangely, or seem to be following specific targets.

Hero Opportunity

Advanced

If the Sheriff dies, prioritize getting the gun. As a Hero, you can end the round immediately.

Survival Running

Advanced

Learn to dodge knife throws by moving unpredictably. Never run in a straight line.

Time Awareness

Pro

In the final minute, the Murderer becomes desperate. Be extra cautious as the timer runs down.

Hero Mode

When you pick up the Sheriff's dropped gun, you become the "Hero." Killing the Murderer as a Hero grants bonus XP and ends the round immediately. This is the Innocent's best opportunity to turn the tables.
