Last Verified: October 30, 2026. Items, odds and merchant prices are from the Grow a Garden Wiki (Fandom) pre-release pages: Halloween Event 2026, Halloween Merchant 2026, Haunted Chest, and each new pet and crop. Part 3 is not out yet, so expect some numbers to change at launch.

Part 3 drops October 31 at 21:30 UTC (5:30 PM Eastern), going by the countdown on the wiki's Update Log. The headline is a 0.5% Divine pet called the Mothman, sitting in a brand-new Haunted Chest.

The quieter news: six of the eleven items on the 2026 Halloween Merchant are last year's stock at last year's exact prices. If you bought them in 2025, you only need five things from that stall.

Haunted Chest odds

You get these from the Headless Horseman. The Exotic version is a Robux item from the Limited Time Shop with one extra line on the table.

ItemTypeHaunted ChestExotic Haunted Chest
TombsproutUncommon crop35%35%
Pumpkin PiggyUncommon pet35%35%

Candle TurtleLegendary pet14.5%14.5%
GhostwoodDivine crop0.5%0.5%
MothmanDivine pet0.5%0.5%
Rainbow rollRainbow Sacknone1%

0.5% is 1 in 200.

Open 100 chests and you still have only about a 39% chance of a Mothman. It takes roughly 460 chests to get to 90%.

Two numbers on the wiki don't agree yet. The Exotic table adds up to 101%, and the Tombsprout page says 36% where the chest page says 35%. Something gets corrected at launch. The 0.5% Divine lines are consistent across every page, though, and those are the ones that matter.

The four new pets

PetRarityHungerSourceAbility
MothmanDivine110,000Haunted Chest, 0.5%Sky Terror: flies between fruit carrying mutations from one to the next, with a chance for mutations to stay behind and grant XP
Swamp MonsterMythicalNot listedHalloween MerchantThing from the Dark Lake: spreads the Swamp mutation, with a chance to Infect swampy fruit and make a Crate or Egg ready to open
Candle TurtleLegendary60,000Haunted Chest, 14.5%Flickering Shell: absorbs a candle cosmetic in your garden to grant all other pets XP or apply the Ash mutation to a fruit
Pumpkin PiggyUncommon12,000Haunted Chest, 35%Pumpkin Trot: aura that gives nearby Pumpkins a chance to turn Gold

Mothman is the one worth chasing, and the clause that matters is "chance for mutations to stay behind." A pet that only moves a mutation is a reshuffle. One that sometimes leaves a copy behind is adding mutations to your garden. How often that happens isn't published, and that number decides whether Mothman is great or just expensive to feed.

Swamp Monster is the sleeper. "Make a Crate or Egg ready to open" reads like a way to skip hatch timers, and it's the only new pet you can buy with Sheckles instead of grinding a 1-in-200 roll.

Candle Turtle eats a candle cosmetic to work. Check what candles you already have placed before you count on it.

Halloween Merchant 2026: new vs rerun

The merchant parks next to the Seed Shop on October 31 for 24 hours with every item in stock, the same setup as last year. The wiki doesn't say whether it arrives with the 21:30 UTC update or earlier in the day.

Frightwork (gear)313,31339x352025 rerun
Lich Statue (cosmetic)31,313,131189x12025 rerun

Every rerun price matches the 2025 merchant to the Sheckle. Last year's Skull Fence and Cemetery Fence (300 million each) are gone, replaced by a 3.1 billion Pumpkin Courtyard Fence.

How many Sheckles to bring

  • The four new non-fence items: 507,070,706 Sheckles. Swamp Monster alone is 313 million of that.
  • Add the fence: 3,607,070,706.
  • The whole rerun half, every unit of stock: 154,500,306.

If you're short, buy Swamp Monster first. It's the only item on the stall that does anything new for your garden. The rest are cosmetics, a fence, one Legendary crop and last year's rerun stock.

Headless Horseman

He's competitive in a way most Grow a Garden events aren't.

  1. Every so often the Horseman loses his head. The interval isn't published yet.
  2. Pick the head up and carry it back to him. It despawns after 2 minutes.
  3. While you carry it, other players can hit you with a Shovel to make you drop it.
  4. Once the head is back, he rides around the map dropping blue wisps. Collect 50 wisps to pick a reward, or pay 49 Robux to skip the wisps.

The reward pool lists 1x, 2x and 3x Haunted Chest, 3x Haunted Egg, two Halloween Gear Boxes, a Haunted Crate, a Gargoyle Statue, and seeds for Bat Berry (Rare), Vampbloom (Mythical) and Rotten Apple (Divine). Every chance is still TBA.

The shovel rule turns a busy server into a fight. If you want chests, find a quiet server, or one with friends who won't shovel you.

Halloween Digging is a 2025 rerun pool

You get 10 digs, and one dig regenerates every 5 minutes. Each gravesite hides between 4 and 7 treasures, and once you've found them all, a reset costs 1 billion Sheckles or 59 Robux.

Every item is a second shot at Ghoul Garden 2025, which is great if you started playing this year and pointless if you already own a Hex Serpent.

The free digs are worth doing. The 1 billion Sheckle reset isn't, for anyone saving for Swamp Monster. That's three Swamp Monsters' worth of Sheckles for a 2.63% Hex Serpent roll.

Trick-or-Treating, still live from Part 2

Trick-or-Treating came in Part 2 (Update 1.73.0, October 24). The first knock costs 10 Candy Corn, and every knock after that doubles in price. The price resets every 8 hours.

You get a treat 80% of the time. On a trick you get 25% of the cost back.

11010
22030
34070
480150
5160310
6320630
76401,270

Stop at five knocks per reset. The sixth costs more than the first five together, and seven knocks cost almost as much as a 1,500 Candy Corn Haunted Egg from the Halloween Market.

The treat table tops out at Pumpkin Ghoul (Divine, 1%) and Gaze Berry (Divine seed, 0.5%), both new in Part 2. After the 80% treat roll, a Pumpkin Ghoul is 0.8% per knock.

Five knocks in each of the three daily resets gives you about an 11% chance of one per day, for 930 Candy Corn. Further down the same treat table: Gremlin (Mythical) at 5% and 3x Haunted Egg at 2.5%.

Haunted Egg, Black Cat sets and the Halloween Market were Part 1: see our Halloween 2026 Part 1 guide. The Grow a Garden pet list and mutation guide show where these pets land long-term, and past events are on the events page.

What to do this week

  • Bank Sheckles. 313 million for Swamp Monster, 507 million if you want all four new non-fence merchant items.
  • Spend Candy Corn before November 7, when the event ends. Five Trick-or-Treat knocks per reset is the efficient rate.
  • Place a candle cosmetic if you plan to run Candle Turtle.
  • Don't spend 1 billion on dig resets unless you're missing a 2025 Halloween pet and have nothing else to buy.
  • Find a quiet server for the Headless Horseman.

FAQ

When does Grow a Garden Halloween Part 3 come out?

October 31, 2026 at 21:30 UTC (5:30 PM Eastern), going by the countdown on the Grow a Garden Wiki's Update Log. The Halloween event runs until November 7.

How do you get the Mothman in Grow a Garden?

Open Haunted Chests from the Headless Horseman, or Exotic Haunted Chests from the Limited Time Shop. Mothman is a 0.5% drop from either, so 1 in 200 chests on average.

What does the Halloween Merchant sell in 2026?

Eleven items. Five are new: Swamp Monster, Franken Squash, Eyeball Machine, Hanging Halloween Swing and the Pumpkin Courtyard Fence. The other six (Specter, Spider Vine, Monster Flower, Vampire Fang, Frightwork, Lich Statue) return at their 2025 prices.

How long is the Halloween Merchant around?

24 hours from October 31, next to the Seed Shop, with everything in stock. The wiki doesn't confirm whether it shows up with the 21:30 UTC update or earlier in the day.

How much does the Swamp Monster cost?

313,313,131 Sheckles. The Robux price hasn't been listed, and there's one in stock.

Is Halloween Digging worth it?

The free digs are. Every digging reward is a 2025 Halloween item, and a reset costs 1 billion Sheckles or 59 Robux, so only pay for resets if you're missing a 2025 pet like the Hex Serpent.

How many times should you Trick-or-Treat?

Five times per 8-hour reset. That costs 310 Candy Corn in total. The sixth knock alone costs 320.
