Grow a Garden Mutations Guide
Every mutation in the game, its exact multiplier, and how to trigger it — organised by category. Environmental, pet-applied, fused, and limited-event mutations, all verified against current community data.
How Mutations Work
A mutation is a permanent modifier applied to a crop during growth. When a crop harvests with a mutation, its base Sheckle value is multiplied by the mutation's factor. Mutations fall into four sources: environmental (weather events, sprinklers), pet-applied (specific pet abilities), fused (two compatible mutations combining), and limited-event (admin events, seasonal content).
Up to 5 mutations can stack on a single crop, and they combine multiplicatively. A Rainbow (50x) + Shocked (100x) crop is worth 5,000× its base — not 150×. That compounding is why endgame stacks can reach six-figure multipliers.
Environmental & Weather Mutations
Applied by in-game weather events, sprinklers, and world conditions. Most players earn these passively while farming.
Pet-Applied Mutations
Triggered when a specific pet performs its ability on a crop. Some overlap with environmental categories; listed here when the pet is the primary source.
Fused Mutations
Appear when two compatible mutations combine and merge into a single higher-value mutation. These replace the original pair on the crop.
Limited & Event Mutations
Only obtainable during specific admin events or seasonal content. Availability varies — some return periodically, others are one-off.
Mutation Stacking
Final Value = Base × M₁ × M₂ × ... × M₅
Multipliers compound multiplicatively, not additively. Each additional mutation roughly multiplies the crop's sale value again, so the difference between 3 mutations and 5 mutations is usually 10×–100× final value, not a small linear gain.
Worked Examples
Classic triple stack
50× — Rainbow
100× — Shocked
20× — Gold
Combined multiplier
100.0K×
A workable high-value combination — all three are obtainable through regular play.
Fused + environmental
10× — Frozen (fused: Wet + Chilled)
100× — Shocked
50× — Rainbow
Combined multiplier
50.0K×
Fused mutations replace their components on the crop, so stack order matters.
Endgame stack (hard)
240× — Abyssal (fused: Eclipsed + Voidtouched)
150× — Dawnbound
100× — Shocked
50× — Rainbow
Combined multiplier
180.00M×
Requires coordinating a Sun God event (4 players with Sunflower) plus admin weather. Rare but achievable.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does mutation stacking actually calculate?
Multiplicatively. Final crop value = base value × multiplier₁ × multiplier₂ × ... × multiplierₙ. For example, Rainbow (50x) × Shocked (100x) = 5,000x — not 150x. Each additional mutation compounds the total.
How many mutations can stack on one crop?
Up to 5 simultaneously. Compatibility varies — fused mutations replace their components, and some limited-event mutations conflict with others. Use the Crop Calculator to test specific combinations.
What is the highest single mutation multiplier?
Astral at 365x (fused from Cosmic + Galactic). Abyssal and Cosmic tie for the next slot at 240x each. Above 100x, almost every high-value mutation is either fused or tied to a limited event.
Are Celestial and Voidtouched the same mutation?
No — they are separate environmental mutations. Celestial is 120x (Meteor strike / Crystal Beam) and Voidtouched is 135x (Black Hole event). They fuse with other mutations (Celestial + Aurora = Cosmic 240x; Eclipsed + Voidtouched = Abyssal 240x) but do not fuse directly with each other.
Can I force a specific mutation to appear?
Only by triggering its source deliberately — e.g. running a sprinkler for Wet, waiting for a known weather cycle, or equipping a pet that applies a mutation on harvest. Random RNG rolls still apply inside those windows.
Do pets mutate the same way as crops?
No. Pet rarity and age are separate systems from crop mutations. Pets do not stack multipliers — their "upgrades" come through age, fusion with duplicates, and the Pet Age Breaker Machine.
