Fisch Companions Guide: All 10 Locations & How to Get Every Companion (April 2026)
The Companions update landed in Fisch on April 25, 2026, and it overhauls how long-term progression works. Companions are equippable pets that travel with you and level up passively — but unlocking them isn't as simple as buying from a shop. Each of the 10 companions has a unique unlock method, and several require you to be in the right place at the right time.
How the Companion System Works
Before you can obtain any companion, you need the Companion Satchel. It unlocks automatically at Level 30 — you cannot get it before reaching that threshold, even if you trigger the correct unlock conditions for a companion.
Once you have the Satchel, you can equip one companion at a time. Companions level up passively — just fish with the companion equipped and it gains experience over time. Max level for every companion is Level 10, and abilities improve at each level milestone.
All 10 Companions — Locations & Unlock Methods
1. Nico Cat
Unlock: Complete the Crazy Cat Lady's riddle quests through Part 2. Nico Cat is awarded automatically as a reward upon finishing Part 2 of the quest chain. This is one of the most accessible companions for players who have completed this quest line.
2. Tropical Toucan
Location: Lost Jungle biome, GPS coordinates (-2924, 275, -2149)
The Toucan is perched on the root of a tree at those exact GPS coordinates. Equip Centipede, Snail, or any Lost Jungle bait and gift it to the Toucan when you get close enough to interact. Use the GPS overlay in-game to navigate precisely — the Lost Jungle is large and the Toucan spawns at a consistent location.
3. Gary Gator
Location: The Marsh, during early sunrise
Head to the Marsh during the early morning time window in-game. Equip Shark Head Bait and stay near the waterline. Gary will approach and interact with the bait if you wait patiently. Timing matters — Gary won't appear outside the sunrise window regardless of bait used.
4. Penguin Pal
Location: Snowcap Island — the hidden Snowburrow cave
Buy Krill Bait from the nearby merchant. Find the hidden Snowburrow cave by interacting with cracked walls in quick succession to trigger the entrance. Inside, place Reinforced Crab Cages with Krill Bait and wait. The cracked wall mechanic isn't explained in-game — most players walk right past it.
5. Silly Seal
Location: Northern Expedition — floating ice platforms
Find seals resting on floating ice platforms. Approach one and offer a Legendary rarity or higher fish. If it runs, wait briefly and try a different seal. Stock up on Legendary fish before heading to the Northern Expedition — multiple attempts may be needed.
6. Little Meg
Location: Active Megalodon Hunt event — only when Blue Megs are present
Use a Megalodon Totem to trigger the event reliably (or wait for a natural spawn). During the hunt, focus on Blue Megs specifically and land a perfect catch to secure Little Meg. Standard Megalodons don't count — only Blue Megs.
7. Beak Bill
Location: Wooden docks across the map, during rain
Use a Tempest Totem to force rain if you don't want to wait. When rain is active, Beak Bill appears on wooden docks. Approach and offer a small fish (higher rarity also works). Check multiple dock areas if you don't see it at the first one.
8. Mutated Sharky
Location: The Depths — during the Absolute Darkness event
Trigger the Absolute Darkness event using a suitable rod. During the event, look for a glowing neon green fish. Equip a low lure speed rod with Fish Head Bait, approach slowly without spooking it, and interact at the right moment. Using too high a lure speed will cause it to flee.
9 & 10 — Remaining Companions
Two companions are still being tracked by the community as of April 26. Check the Fisch Companions wiki page for confirmed unlock methods — we'll update this guide as the data is verified.
Companion Leveling & Abilities
Every companion has a unique ability that improves at each level. Leveling is entirely passive — equip the companion and fish normally. Levels 1–3 provide baseline boosts; Levels 7–10 are where abilities become meaningfully strong. Active fishing sessions level companions significantly faster than idle setups.
Which Companions to Prioritize
- Nico Cat — Quest-based, deterministic unlock. Best starting companion if you've done the Crazy Cat Lady chain.
- Tropical Toucan — GPS coordinates make this reliable. Lost Jungle bait is accessible mid-game.
- Penguin Pal — Hidden cave adds challenge but doable once you know the trick.
- Beak Bill — Tempest Totem makes this deterministic. Hold off on Little Meg and Mutated Sharky until you have the specific event items ready.
FAQ
Can I equip multiple companions at once?
No — only one companion can be equipped at a time via the Companion Satchel. All companions retain their level regardless of which one is equipped.
What level do I need to start getting companions?
Level 30. The Companion Satchel unlocks automatically when you hit that threshold.
Is the Tropical Toucan GPS location consistent across servers?
Based on community reports, yes — the GPS coordinates (-2924, 275, -2149) are consistent. Use the in-game GPS overlay to navigate precisely.
Does Gary Gator spawn at any time, or only at sunrise?
Community consensus confirms early sunrise as the spawn window. Outside that time, Gary won't appear regardless of bait.
What's the fastest way to trigger a Megalodon Hunt for Little Meg?
Use a Megalodon Totem directly. Natural spawns are unpredictable. Stock the Totem, trigger the event intentionally, and target Blue Megs specifically.
