Fisch 1.99 Sei Whale Migration Hunt — How to Catch the New Exotic Whale, the Celestial Rod (Now Level 250, Not 350), and the 50-Rod Rebalance (August 29, 2026)
Sei Whale is an Exotic that spawns in Windy weather at Night on Krill bait. The 1.99.1 hotfix dropped the Celestial Rod craft from Level 350 to 250.

Two clocks are running. The launch code SkycrestNextWeek expired August 30 at 16:00 UTC — that boat is gone unless you already redeemed it. But the Doodle Bundle (799 Robux, Mighty Pencil skin + Scribble Sam bobber + Paper Plane glider) is on the shop from August 29 through September 5, and Fischfest 2 as a whole closes September 12. If you have Sunshells sitting in your inventory from June, you have about eleven days left to spend them on Crimson Tides and the other Sunshell Merchant exclusives.
The permanent additions from Version 1.99 are the ones worth planning around: a new Exotic-rarity whale that migrates on its own rotation, a Stage 7 crafted rod whose passive turns Luck up to 160% for two minutes at a time, a four-tier Passive-Block system that quietly reshapes fish restrictions across the ocean, and roughly fifty individual rod rebalances that pulled several previously-mid rods into serious use. This is a shipped-update guide, not a preview — every number is what the game does today.
TL;DR — Everything Confirmed in 1.99.0 and 1.99.1
Version 1.99.0 — "Sei Whale Migration" shipped August 29, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. A one-day hotfix, 1.99.1, followed on August 30 at 05:32 UTC. Combined, here is what the update actually contains:
- 1 new Exotic fish: Sei Whale, obtainable only during the new Sei Whale Migration Hunt event.
- 1 new localized event: Sei Whale Migration Hunt, tied to Windy weather during Night time in the Ocean.
- 1 new craftable rod: Celestial Rod, Stage 7. Level 250 to craft (dropped from 350 in 1.99.1).
- 1 new boat: Little Sei Whale, code-only via
SkycrestNextWeek(expired August 30). - 1 new shop boat: Infrarana.
- 2 new gliders: Crimson Tides (Sunshell Merchant, 31,401 Sunshells) and Paper Plane (Doodle Bundle).
- 1 new bobber: Scribble Sam (Doodle Bundle).
- 3 new secret skins added in 1.99.1: Boukaloid (interaction with Lemonade Serenade), Stellar Vengeance (interaction with Stellarwave Melody), Mankind's Demise (MiguRod Rod Mastery).
- 4 new shop skins: Lemeownade (Lemonade Serenade), Mighty Pencil (Tryhard Rod), Triple Fishstaff (Pinion's Aria), and Party Puffer (Halibut Harpoon Gun).
- 1 new Rod Mastery lantern: Twinkle Stars.
- 1 new code:
SkycrestNextWeek. Expired August 30 at 16:00 UTC. - Passive-Block system split into four levels with their own restriction categories.
- Crew leaderboards added: Total Catches, Rarest Catch, Crew Rating, Biggest Fish.
- Companion Skins can now be traded.
- Roughly 50 rods rebalanced — many of them meaningfully buffed (Zeus's Thundermaul, Heaven's Rod, Cryolash, Poseidon Rod, Dead Man's Rod, Precision Rod, and more).
- Handful of NPCs removed: Calvin, James (Moosewood), Mysterious Shadow.
- Shutdown fix: after an update, players are now returned to their last location instead of the title screen.
Sei Whale — The Fish, Stats and Requirements
Per the Sei Whale wiki page, straight from the bestiary infobox:
- Rarity: Exotic
- Bestiary: Ocean
- Location: Sei Whale Migration — and only Sei Whale Migration. This is a fully migration-locked catch, not something you stumble on during a standard cast.
- Weather: Windy
- Time: Night
- Season: Summer
- Preferred bait: Krill
- Base weight: 60,000 kg (weight range 48,000 kg)
- Base value: C$35,000
- XP: 40,000
- Progress Speed: −95 (extremely locked)
- Progress Lock: 1
- Base Resilience: 5
- Passive-Block Level: 2 — which matters more now that Passive-Block was overhauled into tiers this patch.
Two things stand out in that block. First, the Progress Speed of −95 with Progress Lock 1 means you cannot muscle this fish with base rods — you need real Progress Speed on your setup and, ideally, an ability rod that can force the lock. Second, the Passive-Block Level 2 tag places Sei Whale in the mid-tier restriction category, meaning several passive abilities that would normally apply are blocked. Read the four-tier list on the wiki before slapping your favorite rod on and expecting the same rules as before 1.99.
The bestiary hint on the wiki page is deliberately terse: "Rarely migrates during windy nights...". That is the whole in-game clue. The rest of the mechanics you have to piece together from the Migration Hunt page.
The Sei Whale Migration Hunt — Windy Weather at Night
Per the Sei Whale Migration Hunt page, the event mechanics look like this:
- Trigger: A percentage chance (currently marked TBA on the wiki) at the start of Windy weather during Night time in the Ocean.
- Stock: Exactly one Sei Whale spawns per migration, on a set path.
- Announcement: A server-wide notice ("A Sei Whale is skimming the surface...") in a muted slate-blue color.
- Ends: When the whale is caught, or when it reaches the end of its path. Whichever comes first.
- Priority: Cannot occur while a Blue Whale Migration or Humpback Whale Migration is active. All three whale migrations share the same event slot.
Compare that to the Blue Whale Migration, which has a fixed 20% chance at the start of Rain and a 15-minute duration. The Sei Whale event does the same job for Wind+Night that Blue Whale does for Rain. In practical terms, if you had a rotation that camped Rain for Blue Whale runs, you now have a second rotation to camp: Wind + Night for Sei Whale. The two do not overlap, so they double your effective migration uptime.
Krill bait is the preferred pull. Per the Krill wiki page, Krill is Uncommon rarity, purchasable at Snowcap Island (inside Mike Merchant's house) for C$50. Stock up before the next Windy Night rolls in — the migration only has one fish and you do not want to be caught rolling with universal bait when the announcement fires.
Note: The wiki still lists spawn chance and duration as TBA. Community testing over the next few days should nail them down. If you have consistent event samples, submit them to the Fisch wiki so the guide can be updated with real numbers.
The Celestial Rod — Level 250 Now, Not 350
The Celestial Rod is the marquee craftable of the update. The original 1.99.0 stat block on the wiki:
- Stage: 7
- Source: Crafting
- Level requirement: 250 (reduced from 350 in the 1.99.1 hotfix)
- Journal: Ancient Archives (entry XP: 2,500)
- Lure Speed: 50
- Luck: 60
- Control: 0.21
- Resilience: 25
- Max Weight: 350,000 kg
- Line Distance: 70
Ability, from the wiki page verbatim: "After catching 15 fish, summon Celestial powers for 2 minutes, boosting +100% luck, +60% lure speed. Caught fish also get the Celestial mutation & +50% XP on them!"
Read: this is an uptime rod, not a stat-check rod. Its base numbers are middling — 50 Lure, 60 Luck, 0.21 Control — but when the passive is active you are at 160% total Luck and +60% Lure Speed on top, plus every catch in the window gets the Celestial mutation and a bonus 50% XP. Fifteen fish to charge sounds long; in practice it is one solid Blue Whale Migration or one long standard-fish session.
The 1.99.1 hotfix drop from Level 350 to 250 is the quiet win here. Level 250 puts the Celestial Rod within reach of most mid-game grinders who cleared Wrath of Olympus but had not yet slogged to the higher-tier zones. If you were pacing your grind around a Level 350 target for this rod, you can pull that timeline forward by weeks.
The Little Sei Whale Boat — Why the Code Mattered
Per the Little Sei Whale wiki page, this boat was only ever obtainable via the SkycrestNextWeek launch code. Stats:
- Level required: 25
- Top speed: 100 S/ps
- Steering: 200°
- Acceleration: 0.5 S/ps
- Seats: 1 (no passengers)
- Description: "just a lil"
The code was live from August 29 to August 30, 2026 at 16:00 UTC — a 24-hour window per the standard Fisch update-code cadence. Per the Codes wiki, the code also awarded C$1,000, 5x Coral Pearl bait, 5x Cotton Candy Pieces, 5x Icy Fisch'n Dots, 5x Tropical Fruit Mix, and a random second-tier item. If you missed it, there is no second chance — the boat has no other listed source. This is a lesson worth internalizing: Fisch launch codes almost always expire within 24 hours. Set a phone alarm for the next major update.
The Doodle Bundle — 799 Robux, Ends September 5
The Doodle Bundle is a limited-time paid bundle available in the in-game shop from August 29, 2026 to September 5, 2026 for 799 Robux. Contents per the wiki:
- Mighty Pencil skin for the Tryhard Rod
- Scribble Sam bobber
- Paper Plane glider
Whether the bundle is worth 799 Robux depends on how much time you spend using your Tryhard Rod cosmetically, since that is where the standout art actually lives. The bobber and glider are secondary rewards. If you are a rod-skin collector and Tryhard is in your rotation, easy pick. If you are grinding for the Celestial Rod and skipping cosmetics, skip this one and save the Robux for the next update's bundle. Deadline is a hard September 5 — do not procrastinate past the weekend.
Sunshell Merchant Last Call — Fischfest 2 Ends September 12
Per the Fischfest 2 event page, the entire event closes on September 12, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. That gives you approximately 11 days to spend any accumulated Sunshells at the Sunshell Merchant before both the currency and the merchant vanish.
The 1.99 update added Crimson Tides, a glider that glides slightly faster than Jingle Wings, to the Sunshell Merchant catalog for 31,401 Sunshells. Per the Sunshell Merchant wiki page, the merchant lives at Coconut Town, and the catalog also carries other Fischfest 2 exclusives that will be inaccessible after September 12.
The strategic move: if you have Sunshells parked, stop parking them. Whatever you do not spend by September 12 is worthless. Crimson Tides is the newest addition and, per its wiki page, glides faster than both the Jingle Wings and Elite Glider — a genuine mobility upgrade for players who move between islands often. Otherwise, spend on whatever event bait or totem the merchant carries and burn through it before shutdown.
The 50-Rod Rebalance — Which Rods Actually Got Better
The 1.99 patch notes list balance changes for roughly fifty individual rods. The pattern is generally "buff older rods and rein in a couple of outliers." A few standouts worth pulling into rotation:
- Zeus's Thundermaul — Lure 65 → 85, Luck 120 → 200, Resilience 15 → 35, Lightning Strike progress 2% → 4%. The Rain/Stormy conditional now adds a straight +20% chance for Zeus's Storm mutation plus +10% Progress Speed. Electrified state now guarantees Perfect Casts and locks in the Electrified mutation. Genuine buff pass — this rod moves back up the tier list.
- Heaven's Rod — Price 1.75M → 800K, Lure Speed 40 → 60, Max Weight 200,000kg → infkg. New passive: +10% Heavenly mutation chance while fishing above Y-Level 150. Mastery gains a "Heavenly Beam" passive enhancement. The infkg change alone puts this back in serious consideration for anyone chasing heavier catches.
- Cryolash — Lure 87% → 60% (nerf), but Luck 149 → 200, Control −0.1 → −0.05, Max Weight 150,000 → 500,000, Glacial chance 15 → 25%, Frostwyrm Hunt Focus +4 → +8. Net large upgrade for anyone who chases Glacial-line fish.
- Dead Man's Rod — the biggest single overhaul in the patch. Added +150 Scavenging (2.5x Rare Finds chance), then a full block of mutation-conditional effects during the reeling minigame. Atlantean mutation now grants a Slashing ability; Greedy sets control to −0.1 and multiplies final weight by 1.4x; Sunken gives a 20% chance for a Treasure Map on catch; Tentacle Surge grants a Legendary+ fish from the bestiary; Wrath charges Poseidon's Blessing meter by 25%. This is essentially a new rod.
- Poseidon Rod — Price 700K → 450K, Lure 50 → 75, Max Weight 100,000 → infkg. Level requirement moved up 100 → 200, so entry cost is higher but the payoff is now permanent.
- Precision Rod — Lure 20% → 65%, Control 0 → 0.05, Resilience 15% → 25%. Added a guaranteed Silver mutation on Perfect Catch. New reeling behavior: +40% Bar Speed while the fish is outside the bar, −40% inside. Rewards precise players significantly harder than before.
- Rod of the Zenith — Price 1.5M → 700K, Max Weight 250,000 → infkg, +20% Progress Speed added. Solid pull-back on cost with a real stat bump.
- Great Rod of Oscar — Oscar mutation chance 5% → 20%. If you were farming Oscar-tier fish this is a straight 4x boost.
- Toxic Spire Rod — Toxic chance 15% → 25%.
- Firefly Rod — new 10% Bioluminescent chance during Night weather.
Not everything got better. Stormy weather lost half its Lure Speed boost (50% → 20%), which is a meaningful nerf for rotation planners. Absolute Darkness lost duration (10–15 minutes → 6–10 minutes) but gained Max Risk (10,000 → 12,000). And several rods that were previously easy Level 5 or Level 100 crafts now sit higher up the tree (Precision Rod 5 → 25, Poseidon Rod 100 → 200, Zeus Rod 150 → 250, Evil Pitchfork 500 → 666).
For a full rod stat comparison across biomes, check the Fisch rod stat guide by biome before rebuilding your loadout.
Passive-Block Tiers, Crew Leaderboards and the Other Quiet Changes
The Passive-Block overhaul is the change most people will miss and then quietly get burned by. The wiki now lists four categories of Passive-Blocked fish (Level 1 through Level 4), each with their own restrictions on which passive abilities apply. Sei Whale, for reference, is Passive-Block Level 2. This is worth 60 seconds on the wiki to skim before you slap your favorite ability rod on a new Exotic and wonder why the passive did not fire.
The Crew leaderboards now show Total Catches, Rarest Catch, Crew Rating, and Biggest Fish rankings. Good time to be in an active crew if you want to farm crew clout. Companion Skins being tradeable is a small but real change for trade-plaza economies — expect prices on the older shiny companion skins to stabilize (or fall) as trade volume opens up.
Three NPCs were removed: Calvin, James (Moosewood), and Mysterious Shadow. If a guide you were following pointed you to any of them, the guide is out of date — find another source. The Shipwright interaction was also cleaned up so purchasing boats no longer boots you out of the menu, which is a small quality-of-life win for anyone rotating through boat loadouts.
The most useful quiet change: when the game shuts down for an update, players are now returned to their original location afterward instead of dumped at the title screen. In private servers, event state (weather, active hunts) persists across shutdown too. If you have ever lost a solid Blue Whale Migration to a maintenance push, you know how much this matters.
Active Fisch Codes Right Now
Per the Fisch Codes wiki page, only three codes are still active as of September 1, 2026:
SCARLET— Scarlet skin for Nate's Blade. Expires December 15, 2026.TemporarySubmarine— Submarine parts (Back Fins, Metal Panels, Side Fins, Submarine Top, Windows). Expires October 18, 2026.CARBON— Carbon bobber. Never expires.
Every other recent update code — SkycrestNextWeek, ShootingStars, CollectMyPufferfish, TheDeepIsVeryDeep, HarpoonGunsAreAwesome, SorryForShopShenanigans, HarpoonGunsNextWeek, Sorry4Delay — has already expired. See the full Fisch codes list for the archive and to redeem what is still live.
FAQ
Can I still redeem the SkycrestNextWeek code?
No. The code expired on August 30, 2026 at 16:00 UTC — roughly 24 hours after the update dropped. The Little Sei Whale boat it awarded has no other listed source per the wiki. Fisch launch codes almost always expire within 24 hours of a major update; set a phone alarm for the next patch drop.
What time and weather do I need for the Sei Whale Migration Hunt?
Windy weather during Night time in the Ocean. That is the only trigger condition. Blue Whale Migration and Humpback Whale Migration cannot be active at the same time — they share the same migration slot. The exact spawn chance and duration are still marked TBA on the wiki as of publication.
Do I actually need Krill bait, or can I use anything?
Krill is the preferred bait per the Sei Whale wiki entry. It is Uncommon rarity and buyable at Snowcap Island from Mike Merchant's house for C$50. Because the Migration Hunt only has one Sei Whale per event, you want the highest preference-match bait you can get — do not roll with universal bait and hope.
Is the Celestial Rod worth crafting?
Yes, especially now that 1.99.1 pulled the level requirement from 350 down to 250. A rod that pushes Luck to 160% and adds +60% Lure Speed for two minutes at a time, while also mutating catches to Celestial and boosting XP by 50%, is a strong pick for any mid-game grinder. The 350,000kg max weight also makes it viable for a wide range of catches. Fifteen fish to charge is not a heavy cost.
Should I buy the Doodle Bundle?
Only if the Tryhard Rod is in your rotation and you value cosmetics. The Mighty Pencil skin is the standout; the Scribble Sam bobber and Paper Plane glider are secondary. 799 Robux is not cheap. If you are Robux-constrained and grinding for a stat rod, skip it. Deadline is September 5.
When does Fischfest 2 end and what happens to my Sunshells?
September 12, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. After that, the Sunshell Merchant will be gone and any unspent Sunshells become worthless. If you have Sunshells accumulated, spend them — the newly added Crimson Tides glider (31,401 Sunshells) is the most notable 1.99 addition to the catalog.
Which rods are now the strongest post-1.99?
Heaven's Rod (now infkg + Y-Level 150 Heavenly proc), Poseidon Rod (infkg), Rod of the Zenith (infkg + 20% Progress Speed), and Zeus's Thundermaul (Luck up to 200, Rain/Storm conditional overhaul) all took large steps forward. Dead Man's Rod is essentially a new rod thanks to the mutation-conditional block. For fresh late-game grinders, Celestial Rod is now the accessible pick at Level 250.
Where do I find the Passive-Block level for a fish?
The Passive-Block wiki page now lists four tiers, each with a category page of member fish. Sei Whale is Level 2. Check the level before assuming your ability rod's passive will fire.
